Connor Corkern is better, but still hospitalized.  Thank-you for your continued prayers for him and his family.

Mrs. Maxine Turner and her family are in need of prayers.  Please begin praying by thanking God for a life well-lived serving the Lord.

Mrs. Della McDaniel passed away yesterday.  Connie said arrangements for her services will be made today.  I’ll post them when they are available.  Thank God for her life and the love she had for so many people.

We were blessed to be able to sing this last night.  It fits perfectly with today’s                               devotional.  David and I are thankful to have had the opportunity to hear Andrea’                       Crouch sing this song on a couple of occasions.  I hope this song comes to my                                 mind and your mind periodically today.

Looking ahead

  • Tuesday – Young at Heart at New Zion Baptist Church at 10:30.  Mrs. Yvonne Curtis will be sharing her wonderful musical talent and love for the Lord.
  • Thursday – Third Thursday at the Cabin – Yvonne Curtis and Kim Chadwick will be among those singing for us.  Join us at 6:30.
  • Friday – Bible Study   We will have lunch at Osyka Seafood after our meeting which completes our latest study.
  • Tuesday, 26th – Young Ladies’ Birthday Party at the Cafe at 11:00
  • Thursday, 28th – Ladies’ Night at FBC, Kentwood at 6:30  Join us for an ice cream party.
  • Friday, 29th – We begin a new study, Women of the Bible, at 10:00.

Mr. Bud Callihan is in Ponchatrain Rehab a little longer.  Please continue to pray for him and his family.

Mrs. Betty Catherine Hatcher was able to be at church Sunday.  I’m looking forward to seeing her headed to Sunday School tomorrow.  God is good.

Mrs. Velma Anthony asks for prayer for her sister, Mrs. Rachel Cox.

Connor Corkern is having respiratory issues and has been admitted to PICU where he is on 100% oxygen for now.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Randy Relan passed away.  I’ll post an obituary soon.  He is from Amite, but lived in Hammond.

August 29th – The Friday morning Bible study will begin a study of women of the Bible with a study of Ruth.  If you are interested in joining us, please give me a call or just show up.  We would love to have you.

Larry Miller said his mother-in-law, Mrs. Doris Young, is home and doing much better. Thank God for her improvement.

Roger Pittman is home and recovering from his surgery.  Please continue to pray for Roger and his family.

I recently heard from my friend in Pennsylvania, Tom Stewart, who is in the hospital in Pittsburg awaiting word on surgery on his kidneys.   He suspects is colon cancer of several years ago is in the kidneys.  I wish to put  him on the prayer link for prayer during these trials.   He specifically asked for prayer from my Southern Baptist friends.

Kathy Jo Thompson of Amite has had surgery and is feeling better after this one than any other surgery she has had.  Let’s pray the tumor removal went well.

Rev. David Cutrer of Roseland, a pastor and employee of McKneely Funeral Home, is having kidney stone issues and will probably have to have them blasted today.  Pray all goes well.

Susan Rimes is also having problems with kidney stones again.  Pray she passes her stone(s) soon.

Carol McDaniel Russell, formerly of Russelltown, learned yesterday she will not have to have surgery despite degeneration in her spine.  Pray she can live with a minimum of pain.

Sue Ellen Russell Pearson, formerly of Russelltown, is undergoing chemotherapy.  Pray she does well.

Lisa Garner Terrell, formerly of Kentwood, is now a retired nurse from the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.  She is also undergoing chemotherapy.  Pray for her and her family.

There have been so many happy events in our area lately – babies born, wedding and baby showers, weddings, graduations, etc.  Pray for each family as they go through these wonderful experiences.  Pray they keep God as a central focus of their lives.

George Bales asks for prayer for his grandson, Jacob Martello, who broke his right wrist Tuesday.  Jacob is having difficulty accepting the cast.

 

Mrs. Hellen Morris is getting stronger in rehab and is scheduled to come home in a couple of weeks.

 

Mr. Bud Callihan is having some health issues and is at North Oaks.  Please add him to your prayer list.

 

Little Teddi Titus, one of the twins, had a brief hospital stay complete with surgery.  She’s at home now.  Pray for continued healing.

 

Carol Jean Conerly continues to have some blood pressure problems.  Please pray this can be corrected soon.

 

Smile Conerly’s sister, Frances McKenzie, is hospitalized again.  Please pray for her and her family.

 

Continue to pray for Roger and Lois Pittman as he learns more about his upcoming surgery.

 

Rev. and Mrs. Jonathan Statham will make the move to Kentwood on August 8th.  Pray all goes well as they settle into their new home.

 

Sunday is the day we collect frozen food for needy families.  Bring your items to Anna Lee’s classroom before Sunday School.  We will be distributing QUART size bags of food this time.

 

Some of the FBC, K youth will be attending a youth leadership conference.  Pray for wonderful experiences and safe travels.

 

The two workers for Samaritan’s Purse who have ebola are a little better.  Keep the prayers flowing.

 

There will be no Bible study on August 8th.  We will resume on August 15th.  See you this Friday.

 

Operation Christmas Child “ornaments” are available to those who did not get some Sunday.  Excitement is in the air as we begin this project again this year!

Mrs. Doris Young is still in North Oaks.  Friday, she had a good day, but Saturday was a different story.  Doris is the mother of  Wanda Miller and sister of Betty Simpson.  Pray as tests are continuing to be done.

Mrs. Marilyn Dees is not recovering from her surgery as quickly as hoped.  Please pray for her, Mr. Earl, their children, and the medical staff at North Oaks.

Update on Porgy Scarle

Thanks for all the prayers and please keep them coming. Dr. Said he has a fractured vertebra and some healing rib fractures we didn’t know about. We see internist on Monday for treatment plan and hopefully to see what’s causing the osteoporosis to be so bad. He is tired from the 2 days to Baton Rouge so he has had a good bit of pain today but usually hurts just when he stands or tries to walk. Thanks agin for the calls and especially the prayers.
