Job and K.K. Huckaby have finished the adoption process and are now the legal parents of Josiah Huckaby. Join with the family in celebrating this big step. Pray for this special couple as they care for their special son God sent to them.

Yesterday was a long day. David had labs in Hammond, a cardiologist appointment in Hammond, OT at home, and saw the liver specialist in Baton Rouge at the new Ochsner! His therapy is progressing because he can now do things like get up from a chair on his own. The cardiologist gave David a good report. The EKG was good and medication was adjusted. The liver specialist gave us more information about cirrhosis, adjusted his medication, and added a new medication. Please keep us in your prayers.

Marilyn Bond Morgan

August 17, 1931 – February 14, 2019

A light is gone, and heaven is enriched with the passing of Marilyn Bond Morgan. A resident of Montpelier, she passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Walker. She is survived by her 4 children, Bobbie Lynn Morgan, Cindi Morgan Blades and Bill, Thomas Parker Morgan, Sr., Jonathan Sandifer Morgan and Donna; 4 grandchildren, Kim Konzelman Webb and Wil, Cortney Hamilton Burch, Thomas Parker Morgan, Jr. and Brittany, and Brittany Laine Morgan; 8 great-grandchildren, William Baylor Travis and Janna, Emilee Claire Webb, Maggie Catherine Webb, Mia Catherine Clemons, Jaxson Gage Burch, Cooper Thomas Burch, Elly Parker Burch, and Briggs Law Burch; sister, Jewel Bond Washington; and longtime friend Ernest A. Watts, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. “Bobbie” Morgan; parents, Henry and Nannie Brown Bond; grandson, Robert William Clemons, Jr.; brother, William “Bill” Bond; sister, Charlotte Bond Prewitt.

Marilyn was born August 17, 1931 in Montpelier and was 87 years of age. She was a graduate of the Baton Rouge Business College and during her life she was employed with the Welfare Department, as a Dairy Farmer, and with the United States Postal Service in Pine Grove, Greensburg and Hammond. She was a member of Montpelier United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the St. Helena Parish Forestry Association.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved sharing her life’s past times, playing cards, LSU football and was always on the go. She especially enjoy her most recent travels with her first grade classmate and friend of eighty years, Ernest Watts. Marilyn was a faithful servant of her community, church and, Lord. She was known as “MawMaw Marilyn” to many, and will be truly missed.

Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will resume on Monday at Montpelier United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Interment Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier. Blood Drive – FBC, Kentwood will host it’s annual blood drive next Sunday, the 24th. If you will be able to donate blood, please call the church office and get a designated time.

Today is the day Jennie planned to come for a visit. After David’s last hospitalization, she came earlier. She has been so helpful doing the three things I requested and much more. She will be here until the 28th. Join me in thanking God and her family for sharing her with us. Today, she will drive him to Baton Rouge for an injection and I will stay here to do something else. Pray all goes according to plans.

August 22, 1931 – February 10, 2019

A resident of Greensburg passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at St. Helena Parish Nursing Home in Greensburg. He was born August 22, 1931 in Greensburg and was 87 years of age. He was a retired Bridge Supervisor for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and served as a Sheriff’s Deputy for 56 years with the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office. He is survived by his 3 sons, Jule Charles Wascom and wife, Dottie, Tom Ed Wasom and wife, Anita, and Ricky Wascom and wife, Glenda; grandchildren, Scotty, Robby, Bobby, Jaime, Ryan, and Rusty; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Imogene Wascom. Preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Dean Alford Wascom; parents, Thomas and Mollie Travis Wascom. Graveside Services will be held at New Zion Cemetery, Kentwood, at 10:00AM on Monday, February 11, 2019. Services conducted by Rev. Joe Day. The Brave Sometimes Wander Too Far Alone!

New Update on David – I guess David got too confident with the improvement in mobility he made last week. While I was in the laundry room and Jennie was in the cabin, David left the den and went to the bathroom using in cane. He leaned the cane on the counter, but it slipped. He stooped to pick it up, did not hold on to anything, and landed on his back. He called me, so I went to the den expecting to find him.

He was on his back in the bathroom and had a bleed on the back of the head, so we got him up, into the car, and went to the ER in Greensburg. Thankfully, testing showed he was okay.

Today, we are still thankful for the improved mobility he achieved through the PT and OT. We do wish he was more careful though. God watches out for us sometimes when we make poor choices. David is not even sore today!

This is a convenience for those who are homebound, an opportunity to watch a service from a different church, and a way to share the ministry of FBC, Kentwood with others. One neat thing about this is you can watch live or any time later when you have the opportunity.

Read & Write the Bible Today – Luke 6:27-36

Yesterday, David saw a doctor who changed some of his medications because of problems David was experiencing. Next week, we will have doctor appointments on three or four days. Looking at that with a positive attitude, the different doctors get to evaluate him multiple times next week. Another good thing, is that some of these appointments are in Hammond, not Baton Rouge. David has been recommended for home health. It’s in the paperwork approval stage. Thanks for your continued prayers.

A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. Helena Parish Hospital in Greensburg, LA. She was born March 24, 1926 in St. Helena, LA and was 92 years of age. She was a retired LPN from LA War Veterans Home in Jackson, LA and also a retired dairy farmer. She is survived by 2 daughters, Faye Marcus and David, and Kathy Travis; Kim Richard and Ken; 1 son, Alan Travis and Avonia; 1 sister, Frances Robbins and Ronnie; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. Updates:

Brandon McElveen had five bypasses. He is in his mid-40″s. Thank God for the successful surgery.
Andy Taylor‘s cataract surgery went well. Pray for Andy and Betty as he recovers,
Eleanor Morris continues to improve on walking on her new hip. Thank God for allowing her to have this surgery.
David had a long day yesterday in Baton Rouge including visiting in the High Grove Ochsner that just opened. We were thankful to have Jennie with us and driving. David was able to get his Procrit shot even thought his number was 10.1 because the number was “trending downward”. Pray for David’s energy level and strength to increase.

Sandra K Smith, 68, of Lacombe died Friday January 25, 2019 at Lacombe Nursing home. Sandra was born February 2, 1950 in Hicksville, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Bill (and Joyce) Albertson and the late Beverly Fiig Burt. Sandra was an avid member of the Lions Club. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Leon (Buck) Smith. She is survived by her son Scott Smith and his wife Kelley Smith. She is survived by her siblings Charles Albertson Sr. Butler, IN; Joana and Neil Bonecutter of Edgerton, OH; Sarah and David Clark of Hicksville, OH; Martha and Kim Elson of Hamilton, IN; and Mary and Tim Algire of Montpelier, OH. She has four grandchildren Tyler Welch of Slidell; Blaine Welch of Slidell; Ryan Welch of Slidell; and Emma Welch of Slidell. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and two siblings. Please pray for Brandon McElveen. 46 and formerly of Roseland, as he has bypass surgery today. His parents are GG and Cathy McElveen. Also, please pray for the medical personnel who will be working to get the bypass done successfully.

Please add Cora Morris of the the Kedron area to your prayer list. Just as she was recovering from back surgery, she broke an ankle.

Pray for Andy Taylor of Osyka as he has cataract surgery this morning. Pray for Betty as she continues to care for Andy.

Pray for Nancy Stokes’ daddy. His blood pressure is very low, so he will be having surgery.
