Mrs. Ruby Ziggler is back in the hospital.  It seems like she has been “on a roller coaster ride”.  Keep praying for the family.

Mr. John Blackwell fell.  Pray for him as he adjusts to living in his trailer in the country.

A childhood friend who lives in Texas reports that two weeks after back surgery, her husband, Mark,  fell and broke some ribs.  Pray for him as he endures the pain and continues the back recovery.

Rev. Tommy Hicks will have hip replacement surgery today at Our Lady of the Lake.  He has been troubled with this for some time, but tried to keep going.  Pray the surgery goes well and the recovery is complete and in a timely manner.

Continue to pray for David Bales and his family and friends.  David will have surgery tomorrow at North Oaks to remove the melanoma and to check some lymph nodes.  The family will be very appreciative of your prayers.

Pray for Kathy Jo Thompson as she has shunt surgery tomorrow morning at North Oaks at 6:30 A.M.

(November 11, 1922 – September 13, 2013)

A resident of Amite, he died at 12:14 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. He was born November 11, 1922 in Amite and was 90 years of age. He was an avid outdoorsman, United States Marine Corps Expert Marksman during World War II, and owner of Spitale’s Bar for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Jenny Spitale; 3 sons, Vince, Jr., Anthony, and Santo Spitale; sister, Mary Currier; 4 brothers, Tony, Guy, Nick, and Sam Spitale; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Spitale; parents, Sam and Virginia Spitale; sister, Frances Petitto. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. until 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Services conducted by Fr. Mark Beard. Interment Amite Cemetery, Amite. Paul Morgan‘s biopsy was done yesterday.  He is doing well.  Pray for Paul and his family as they wait while the biopsy is analyzed.

 

Please continue to pray for Glenda and Tyrone Harrell.

 

Melissa Johnson said she is over compensating for her injuries and causing more problems.  Pray for her as she continues to get well.  Pray for her as she continue to go through physical therapy.

 

Tomorrow will be the annual Homecoming Day at New Zion Baptist Church.  The morning service will be followed by Dinner on the Grounds.

Survived by mother, Virginia Husser Bahm, Loranger; sister, Cheryl Bahm, Husser. Preceded in death by father, Ralston Bahm. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2013, and from 8:00 AM until religious services at 10:00 AM Monday, September 16, 2013. Pray for Smiley Conerly as he has heart tests and learns what he needs to do.

Pray for Jeff Tolar of Florida as he continues to have back problems.

Pray for Betty Taylor as she sees her cardiologist Friday.  Pray for her mother, Mrs. Ruby Ziggler, and family as they adjust to Mrs. Ziggler being at rehab in McComb.  They cannot stay with her as they could when she was hospitalized.

Debi and George Bales’ son, David, has seen doctors all week.  They have learned the cancer is deep but not the stage of the cancer.  David will have surgery Friday of next week with some treatments scheduled to follow. Pray for the whole family as they face this “journey” they were not planning.

Robert and Ora Lee Wilson’s great grandson had a “seizure”-type problem.  Additional tests have shown nothing for which to be concerned. Thank God for this good report.  Pray for Ora Lee as she faces surgery on her leg.

Mrs. Bonnie Strickland and Debi Bales mother, “Miss” Lucy, will both be moving to nursing homes to receive the care they need.

Had a successful week of chemo and we get to go home tomorrow (Sunday) This was his last regular round!! We come back in two weeks for the first maintenance treatment. It’s hard to believe but he is so close to done.
Side effect of these particular drugs is a sunburn like affect on the palms of the hands and bottoms of the feet. Luckily not quite as painful as last time. Ice packs help and it will all be a memory soon enough. — with Austin Rose.

Two young boy, Connor and Eli, are home for a change.  Lara is still in Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, but receiving good reposts.  I’m so thankful to post good reports on all of these young people.

TeamKid will begin tonight at FBC,Kentwood.  This will replace AWANA, but is very similar.  Bring your children ages 4 – 5th grade out at 5:30.  There will be a place for every member of the family, so bring the whole family.

The Beth Moore study of Deuteronomy will begin Monday, the 16th at 6:30 P.M. in the fellowship hall.

The Senior Adult Revival will be Monday – Wednesday.  The first day, we will meet at Line Creek.  Lunch will be provided each day.

The associational WMU meeting will follow the revival tomorrow.  It will be at East Fork at 1:00.  I hope many of you will be up to making both of these important events tomorrow.

You have one more week to get food to your local Baptist church in our area for the Fall Food Round-Up for the La. Baptist Children’s Home.  Remember the 16th.  I previously posted a list of their needs, so look back on The Prayer Link to see what they need the most.

Remember, to continue to bring children’s shoes and school uniforms to the church.  I will organize your deliveries and take them to Re-Store which in located between Cooper’s Bakery and Boston Restaurant in Amite.  We will be collecting blankets and jackets next, if you would like to get an early start on sorting through things at home.

If you would like to being anything for the family that had a fire and lost everything last week, please refer to the list I posted earlier or a list at the church at the office entrance.

Mrs. Ruby Ziggler will be moving to a rehab near the hospital in McComb.  Pray for her as she adjusts to all the PT she will be going through.

Mrs. Mary Womack is in North Oaks.  She would appreciate calls, cards, and visits.

Debi Bales’ mother, “Miss” Lucy, is now in Landmark Nursing Home in Hammond.  Pray for her adjustment there.

Carol Russell‘s tests have good results so far.  She will get the last report in a week.  Keep praying.

Mrs. Wilene Howell is better and back at home.  Thank you for praying for her.

Mansell Stinson continues to improve, but his health still is not 100%.

Pray for David Bales.  He has been diagnosed with a melanoma and is undergoing lymph node mapping.

Pat Hoosier was checked out at the ER last night.  All seems okay.  He will follow up with his oncologist today.

Bone Scan and CT scan are negative. This means that there are no seen cancer cells in the bone or lungs. We are still awaiting the results of the MRI which would show us if there is anything in her soft tissue

Monday, there will be an association meeting for women at EFBC at 1:00.  Everyone should have time to get there after the revival service at LCBC.

Beginning Monday, September 16, there will be a Beth More study of Deuteronomy at 6:30 in the fellowship hall of FBC, K.  This study will be led by Brandy Wilson and Majel Dean.

At 8:00 on the 16th the truck will be at FBC, Kentwood for the Fall Food Round-Up for the La. Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe.

The Georgia Barnette Missions Offering for Louisiana Missions will have its annual Week of Prayer Sept. 15 – 22.

The new schedule for adults on Sunday nights at FBC,K will begin at 6:00 in the sanctuary.

Mike Moore, husband of Robin Wilson Moore, went for a check-up yesterday.

Mike just left the doctor’s office in Memphis. The tumor has not shrunk any, but it also has not grown. The doctor is more concerned about tumors growing, so he told Mike not to worry about a thing and to come back in 6 months! Thanks so much for the prayers!

Jason Dean had a good report after some tests yesterday.

Carol Russell, formerly of Roseland, is having a medical test today.  Pray for her today.

Kathy Jo Thompson of Amite just completed another brain surgery.  Now, it appears she will need a shunt to help with headaches and nausea. Pray for this young lady who has already been through so much, but who keeps going.

Austin Rose was home to march with his high school band Friday night and to enjoy the holiday weekend with his family.  Yesterday, he was admitted to the hospital again for the next round of chemo.  Continue to pray for him and his family.

Line Creek Baptist Church will be having a singing friday night.

Don’t forget our wonderful singing this Friday night Sept 6th,Jay Parrack and Vocal Event,Jay sang for yrs with Gold City he is a wonderful Tenor who will be doing some high tenor for us,bring finger food for our break,they say for more singing.Love to pack us out.they should be then,excuse please.

The Lucy Bible study will continue Friday morning at 10:00 at FBC, Kentwood.  Each day we meet is an independent lesson, so bring your Bibles and join us.  You will laugh and learn all in the same hour.

Yesterday, shoes and school uniforms were organized and delivered to Re-Store in Amite.  We had 109 pairs of shoes, 16 pairs of pants, and 39 shirts. These shoes and uniforms will be helpful to some families from our area.  If you have any uniforms to share or any childres’s shoes, please bring them to the collection baskets at the main and office entrances to FBC, Kentwood.

I remember first hearing this hymn at Big Creek Church of Christ.  I was amazed with both the hymn and the voices that blended so well without any musical instruments.  It’s been one of my favorites since that night about fifty years ago.  We know it today as “The Church in the Wildwood”.
