Sunday, the first one of the month, is the day to bring frozen food to my Sunday School classroom.  It will be distributed to families Sunday.  Thanks so much for your support.  You touch lives by doing this.  If you have some vegetables you put in the freezer this year and are willing to share them, please know they will be going to someone who has a special need/request.  The other cooked and frozen foods will be shared as usual.God bless your generosity!

Hope Center signed up twenty-two families the very first day!  They will receive food on the 10th.  Tomorrow, Thursday, applications will be taken from 1-5 P.M.  Come shop and/or volunteer with us!  Contact me or the Hope Center (247-2235) to be put on the schedule.  Food will be arriving Wednesday for distribution on Friday.  We will need special help boxing the food next week.  I post more about that next week.

Friday’s Bible Study is on Sarah.  These are the Scriptures you might want to read in preparation for our discussion.

  • Genesis 11: 29 – 12: 20.
  • Genesis 16
  • Genesis 23: 1-2

Joe Easley

I heard some good news yesterday.  Joe Easley, who has been terribly sick, is better.  I thank God for a good day for Joe and for his  friends and fellow church people who have been so faithful to a man who has been so faithful to God.  Have a good day today, Joe.

Joe’s Grandson

Joe’s grandson was involved in an accident over the weekend.  The early news was that the young man broke this back.  That is true, but it seems the break was on the front and fixable.  Thank-you, Jesus.

Nancy Carruth

Nancy, of Greensburg,  got some medical results yesterday from tests she had been undergoing.  She will need additional testing and some procedures, but thankfully, her health can be improved through modern medicine.  We’re praying for you, Nancy.

Senior Adult Revival at NZBC

What a great meeting we had!  The church was full.  The preaching was good.  The singing was wonderful.  Food was plentiful and delicious.  Hugs were available everywhere.  God’s presence was felt in all that was done.

Today, the revival service will be at Kedron Baptist Church.  Fellowship and morning refreshments begin at 9:15, followed by choir practice at 9:30, and the service at 10:00.  If you missed yesterday, you can’t get a “retake”, but you can come today and tomorrow and experience revival with us.

Hope Center

After revival, I was privileged to work with a team of ladies from the Kentwood area at Hope Center.  It was the first time to begin organizing the things that will be sold.  The efforts of the ladies really made a difference.  There’s much more to do, so contact Sylvester Humphry or someone else to volunteer.  Remember, everyone is a volunteer. Many volunteers will be needed now and in the future.  Be thinking about how you can work Hope Center (food bank and/or thrift store) in your schedule.  Prepare to be greatly blessed.

We discovered a need yesterday.  Hope Center needs coat hangers.  If you bring some to FBC, Kentwood, I will deliver them.  You can leave them in the stairwell at the office entrance to FBC, K.

Truett Cathy was a modern day hero.  No, he did not rescue people from burning buildings or hang the moon in place, but he had a food business that honored God and was concerned about people, especially young people.  When we visit Jason, we visit Berry College where Truett Cathy invested his money and efforts to help young people in so many ways – a place to live, someone to care about them, food, camp, and many others things, but the greatest was his Christian example and opportunities for them.  Truett Cathy’s life on earth is over, but he lives on through the lives of many young people.  Truett Cathy was a hero because he let Jesus to live in and show through his life.  Well done, Mr. Cathy.

Sunday

“You rejoice in this, though now for a short time

you have had to struggle in various trials

so that the genuineness of your faith—

more valuable than gold,

which perishes though refined by fire—

may result in praise, glory, and honor

at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Ron and Alana Ichter Greenwich, missionaries to Santa Catarina, Brazil have retired after 30 years and are returning home to Louisiana this weekend.  Her dad was my music minister/children’s choir director when I was a child.  Later, when Jennie served as a journeyman in Brazil, she taught the children of the Greenwich and Blackwell families, both from LA.  Sweet memories!  Her parents are also retired Brazilian ministers to Brazil.  They live in Minden, LA and are so excited to have Alana home.  Bro. Bill still serves on the church staff working with senior adults.  I might add that some of the third generation of the Ichter family are currently serving as missionaries.  What an legacy!  How they have blessed and been blessed!  I wonder how many souls will be in heaven because of the Ichter Clan.  Please pray for Ron and Alana as they make this big change in their lives.

You may remember praying for a little boy named Eli.  This is an update.

Today one year ago we came home from the hospital after the chemotherapy was over for good ! We claimed it and u claimed it with me…I remember how all of you came in agreement with me and for me that it was not over for him. I clearly remember the walk down the hallway to go home..it was awesome. I’m lucky to have a healthy boy and it teaches you to not take a day for granted and that you tell each other you love each other as much as possible. He’s a blessing… He’s smart ..he could teach lots of people to not sweat the small stuff in life and everyday battles. Money isn’t everything…materials aren’t everything.. Its who is in your life and the laughter as and the memory making a and the love as and hugs….don’t waste your day being upset over things we have no control of… My dad was that way to and I saw so much of him in Eli…. Each day is a gift..invest I n people.. This world is too full of people in it for themselves… Invest..smile.. Laugh ..love …its what got us thru each day in the battle and still today.

Operation Christmas Child

Majel Dean has started making tote bags to hold clothes, toys, or even the OCC shoeboxes later.  She needs help with fabric, ribbon, and cutting.  Each tote requires a 12.5 inch by 40 inch rectangle.  She could also use some grogain ribbon and cotton clothesline cording, etc. for the ties.  Each tote requires two pieces 33 inches long for the tie.  If you can help, please bring the fabric and cording to FBC, Kentwood.  The totes will be folded and placed inside the totes until the children get their boxes.

I hope you have found a way to create something for the boxes.  If you need ideas check out some of the OCC  sites on Pinterest.  There are still “ornaments” on the Christmas tree at church if you would like to purchase some gifts for the boys and girls.

One young  man selected his ornaments and then enlisted various family members to help with the purchases.  He has been trained to know the importance of missions and the good the shoeboxes do around the world.  He involved his family with him.  Good training and a wonderful involvement.  Do you need to involve a family member, child or youth,  in helping others?
