Please pray for the family of Kay and Marty Simpson and Melissa Johnson.  Their mother’s sister, Ana Martinez, passed away.

Thankfulness, Day 6 – Today, I am thankful for the Thanksgiving season for two reasons. One, our ancestors recognized how important God has been in their individual lives and the life of our country  and set a special time of the year for us.  Two, we are reminded to count our blessings and thank the One who has done so much for us individually, as a family, as a church community, as a country, and as a world. The greatest thing is that Jesus died for the sins of all of us so that we might have a heavenly home forever when we leave this imperfect world.  There is no greater gift any of us could ever hope for!

Mallory Hatchel – I haven’t heard from Jennie yet this morning, but expect an update after the doctor makes rounds this morning.  I am thankful that her siblings could visit last night. They all had to wear blue gowns to be there.

From Megan:
“We met with Lil Man’s radiation oncologist this morning. After looking at the MRI and assessing Lil Man, he still thinks the area they are watching is just pseudoprogression. Lil Man is asymptomatic and feeling great! The perfusion portion of the MRI is not back yet so we will still have to wait on those results. The doctors have cleared Lil Man to go home and he will follow up again in a month. They are very pleased with how he is doing and told him to continue whatever he is doing! We all know the power of prayer and God Almighty are why he is doing so well!! Praise God!! We love you all and thank you for the continued prayers!!” Thanks to all for everything! , Hunter

Donna Fay Miller is continuing to have medical tests and medication changes.  Pray her issues will be resolved soon.

Baptist Friendship House

It is so amazing to watch relationships form and grow with the individuals that come to get snack packs and hygiene kits each week. For some of the people it isn’t just about getting the much needed items placed in the packs. It’s more about getting to spend time in conversation with people that truly care about them and what is happening in their lives. One man comes all the way across town on his bike just to spend time with us. Others, simply enjoy a place to sit down, eat a snack, and read the newspaper. Pray for each person that comes to receive the snack packs and hygiene kits and for the relationships that continue to grow between them and our volunteers and staff.

Wednesday Addition

Our oldest grandchild, Mallory (16), was burned with hot water late last night.  She spent the night in the burn unit where she has received good care.  Please pray for Mallory to not have pain or a problem with infection.

Their car was vandalized while parked in the driveway on Oct. 31st.  Thank God for His watch-care over the family because both situations could have been much worse.

  • There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents   than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.                                                                                                                     ~Luke 15:7~                                                                                                                                                  “He rejoiceth more of that sheep,                                                                  than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.”                                                                                                                         ~Matthew 18:13~
  • “The Ninety and Nine” – http://cyberhymnal.org/htm/n/i/90_and_9.htm

I remember hearing this song for the first time.  I was at Natalbany Baptist Church.  Uncle Charles Tolleson was leading the music for revival.  After church, I asked my parents why 99 sheep would be left alone just so one could be saved. That very night, I learned how important each and every person is to God.  I was five or six years old and have loved the song every since.  I just shared the story with David for the first time.  I’m glad the devotional for today triggered this memory.

I hope this “favorite” sticks with me today and that I remember the value of each person to the kingdom forever.

We don’t know what this day holds for us.  It may or may not be all good, but we know if we stay next to Jesus and allow Him to “walk” with us it will all work out according to His purpose for our lives.  May we learn to accept both the good and the bad days with our eyes on Jesus.

Operation Christmas Child

  • “Our shoebox lady went home to be with the Lord this year in May. She was a retired teacher and loved kids. She would fill 600 shoebox gifts each year. This year in Memory of Elaine we are working to add 600 extra shoebox gifts wrapped in gold, red and green foil papers to bring together and then take pictures of the boxes to send to her family.” – Christine P.

  • “My 104 year old Mom carefully packing her Shoebox for 4 special little girls. Never too old to send a little doll and a teddy bear and spread the love of Jesus through this shoebox.” – Claire. A. — with Jennifer Mcafee.
  • Nikola is a young boy living in Serbia being raised by his grandmother and grandfather. In his shoebox gift, Nikola got a toy car, which he loves more than anything else in the world. He also got a teddy bear that he sleeps with every night. He calls it his brother.
  • “I have 3 grandchildren, so I do 3 shoeboxes. The whole family is in on collecting items for the boxes all year. It warms my heart when one of my grandchildren puts a Sonic toy or some other small item on my desk and tells me ‘it is for the boxes’. At the time I pack them I add a Christmas card and a Birthday card for that child. The birthday card can be an avenue to start the conversation about Christ’s birth. I’ll never know what impact my boxes have on anyone but I know I have done what my heart felt lead to do to share Christ’s LOVE.” – Peggy D.
  • Have you put your heart into OCC this year.  If you have, thank you.  If not, it’s not too late.  We have until the end of this month to make original or additional purchases. – ala

I haven’t heard or even thought of this song in a long time.  I hope it “plays” in my heart and mind all day today.

Family Update – David and I made emergency flights to Richmond and kept our grandchildren so their parents could be in Texas with family members during  a difficult time.  We were so blessed by that experience.  We got to witness their everyday life both as grandparents and parents.  I am so thankful we had that time together, especially because their parents were much needed in Texas.  We got home last night and look forward to learning what we missed and getting back in our routine.  Home always looks extra good after being away.

Thanks for your faithfulness to God, family, friends, and total strangers through your prayers.  One prayer I have had lately is for more prayer time and more depth to my prayers.  I’m sharing it with you so I will be more diligent to do that.  You will be my accountable partners.  Thanks, friends.

Macy Gueldner

By Mary Catherine Gueldner — 20 hours ago

Little miss Macy has clinic today, but during her break, she’ll be in a commercial shoot for Our Lady of the Lake. As I type (while on my 15 minute lunch break,) she’s getting hair, makeup, and wardrobe done. Ha! I told them that it wouldn’t take long for hair, since she has none!

She had a bad week after her last LPIT, Vincristine, and steroids (which is her norm.) She recovered and had a good week last week.

We’ve been super busy (and TIRED,) but things have been going okay.

I hope to get some good pictures to show you from the Sunday tea in Memphis. We had a REALLY nice day! Company D danced, which is a dance group of young adults with Down syndrome (I cried through their beautiful performance.) A violinist and harpist performed solos, and the Germantown choir sang. It was all so very nice! Macy didn’t wear her crown for long, but she stood on the smaller stage (by herself) and took it all in, while twirling and dancing.

Our princess Macy has had a busy week, she may need a personal assistant soon to organize her appearances and shoots 🙂
