So do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Macy Gueldner (Written by her mother)

Macy’s counts are back up, so she had her LONG day of chemo today. I’m very thankful that my mom was able to bring her, so I can keep working. They just got home, and Macy is in a fantastic mood. I know that she is going to be very happy back at school tomorrow. It’d be better than awesome if we could keep all germs away from school… haha, wishful thinking!

I saw my neurosurgeon yesterday, and he was very happy with my progress, and so am I! I’m finally almost healed! Although, today’s weather has me in more pain than I’ve had since November… BUT it’s not nearly as bad as it had been, so I’ll take it!!

Everyone that knows me, knows that I have a severe intolerance for cold, and now that I have hardware in my neck, I LOATH it!!! Mother Nature, I’m calling MERCY!!

Monday

“For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised;

He is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols,

But the LORD made the heavens.

Honor and majesty are before Him;

Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples,

Give to the LORD glory and strength.

Give to the LORD the glory due His name;

Bring an offering, and come into His courts.

Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!

Tremble before Him, all the earth.”

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Luke 2 New International Version (NIV)

The Birth of Jesus

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Devotional, Scripture, and a Song

Last night, Christmas Eve, David and I were privileged to attend a Christmas Eve service at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church.  Bro. Kevin Smith read Scriptures from Luke 2.  The familiar carols were beautiful.  Communion was special.  We held candles as we sang “Silent Night”.  What a wonderful service with a packed sanctuary.

Bro. Kevin’s message, “An Announcement from a Stable”, contained these three main thoughts.

  1. God humbled himself to be like us.
  2. Christmas is a time for family.
  3. Christmas is for everyone.

Carry those thoughts with you throughout this day!

and destitute of daily food,

and one of you says to them,

Please pray for Sherman and Jewel Cutrer.  He’s back in a Baton Rouge hospital for more surgery.

Pray for the family of Marty Simpson who passed away suddenly last night at the age of 44. He’ll be missed, but I KNOW he’s in heaven.

Macy Gueldner’s family is celebrating an anniversary this week.  It’s been a year since she was diagnosed.  The lives of each family member have been greatly changed, but they certainly “stepped up” and did all within their power to support Macy in her big battle.  I thank God for the grandmother who reached out to us for prayer and for the faith and faithfulness of the family during this difficult year.  It’s been my honor to pray for Macy and the family this year.

Mr. Jay Hugh Young is in rehab in Hammond.  Let’s pray he will soon be well enough to return to the Sixth Ward.

Disaster Relief Work in the West Monroe area yesterday:

  • The La. Baptist Children’s Home had thirty trees down.
  • “There were 51 volunteers today (Tuesday) completed 20 jobs assessed many others, with three injuries
    One fell and broke his hip, one fell and broke his arm and one passed out due to being overheated and a diabetic.
    Pray for their recovery.”

(Information via Dr. Gibbie McMillian)

  • Of course, in addition to the children’s home, there were churches, homes, businesses, etc. that had damage.  Many people are without electricity.  Many people cannot move around easily because of the number of trees down.  Let’s lend support in any way we can.  Thankfully, we have our Baptist Disaster Relief workers willing to step in and do all they can.  What a great program!

I hope you are making plans to attend our Third Thursday meeting tomorrow night at the cabin.

Yesterday, at Hope Center, I talked with one of two ladies there that I did not know. It turned out they live in my neighborhood.  It was good to meet them and to begin a new friendship through our ministry at Hope.  Hope Center is doing well in bringing like-minded people together and in providing a service that is needed in our association.  Thank-you to each person who helped with the vision, the opening process, or the daily operation there. May God  richly bless you for your concern for the needs of others.

Operation Christmas Child – We will be packing the shoe boxes November 1st.  It’s not too late to bring in a few more items for the children.

Friday Morning Bible Study – There are some guides for the study of Rebekah on the table at the entrance to the fellowship hall.  You may want to get one to use as we look forward to our study Friday morning.
