Monday

“Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it.

Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.

I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

~Matthew 11:29-30 MSG~

I would like to tell you about two 95 year olds from Amite.  Many of you may know one or both of them.

  • Mrs. Helen Robertson ran a flower shop for many years.  She is still very faithful in her church, FBC.  Many people know and love her.  We saw her last Sunday as she had lunch at Mike’s.  Wednesday, she fell and broke a hip.  She is in OLOL and has had hip replacement surgery.  Keep her in your prayers.  She’s not the kind of lady who likes to lay around and be pampered.
  • Mr. Delos Jones was the county agent for many years, but I knew him best as daddy to Maureen, Arleen, and Gilbert.  I  attended many slumber parties in the Jones home.  For many years, we saw him at Mike’s as he had his Sunday lunch after attending FBC, Amite.  He always called us by name.   In recent years, I have seen Arleen with him frequently.  Now, Mr. Delos has moved to be with family.  What a kind, gentle man!

Joy Moore shared last night that her dad, Paul Boudreaux, was able to move his left hand slightly yesterday.  He is slowly progressing from strokes he has suffered in the last couple of months.  More good news, he will be leaving rehab and going home Wednesday, if all goes as planned.  Keep praying.

Renee Deck was at church last night.  She doesn’t slow down much.  Pray for complete healing of her knee.

Thankfulness: Day 12 – Today, I’m thankful for Samaritan’s Purse (shoeboxes) that provides for children around the world to obtain some necessities and some gifts to children who might not receive an Christmas gift.  I’m thankful for the books that are in each box to introduce the children to Jesus on their and in their language.  I don’t have adequate words to say how much this one project impacts people worldwide who pack the boxes or who receive the boxes.  May God bless each one who packed a box and each child who received a box.  That puts the “Merry” in “Merry Christmas” for these children and in my heart!  If you are not involved, please plan to help next year.  You will be so blessed!

Wednesday if the deadline for turning in your Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes at FBC, Kentwood.  Please call the church office for more information.

This is the week for the Third Thursday meeting at the cabin.  I hope you will be here to join us for a meal, a devotional, and some foot-tapping music.

Please continue to pray for the Welch family in their loss.

This is a good day to spend time counting out blessings and saying thank you.  They are many!
