Today’s Hymn of the Day – “Little Brown Church in the Vale” – http://cyberhymnal.org/htm/l/i/littlebc.htm

I remember first hearing this hymn at Big Creek Church of Christ.  I was amazed with both the hymn and the voices that blended so well without any musical instruments.  It’s been one of my favorites since that night about fifty years ago.  We know it today as “The Church in the Wildwood”.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will meet at the church at 10:00 to organize and pray over the donations of shoes and uniforms for Re-Store in Amite.  Then, the donations will be delivered along with some cards for the counter that help point people to Jesus.  If you have shoes, especially shoes for children, and uniforms of any size or color, it’s not too late.  Leave them inside the office or main door of FBC, Kentwood. We’ll make another delivery later.  Also, begin collecting blankets and jackets that you wish to contribute.

The truck from the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home will be in Kentwood a week from today to pick up food items for the cottages there. You have one week to get your donation ready.

Don’t forget the “Lucy” Bible study on Friday mornings at 10:00.  Each lesson stands independent of the other lessons, so if you miss one, you will be okay to do the next one without any problem.  The unique feature about this study is there is no homework and no cost.

There were twelve ladies at the Lucy Bible study.  We all laughed and learned.  The next Lucy Bible study will be Friday morning at 10:00.  At that time we will discuss worrying.  This study will be independent of what we have already done.  I hope you will come join us.  Of course, if you have never worried about anything, you don’t need to come.

Wednesday

“. . . The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.”

~James 5:16, HCSB~

The last I heard from Kayla Johnson was that she was doing well.  She is not expected to have any future problems.  After spending the night, she is expected to come home today.

Pray for Rufus and Margie Williams.  He’s at the Heart Hospital in LaComb to complete the procedure of taking care of his blockages.

Thanks to all who contributed shoes for Re-Store in Amite.  Even though our official shoe drive is over, shoes can be brought to the church at any time and placed in or near our collection baskets.  The biggest need is for shoes for children.  Bro. Heath will be glad to have them at any time.  We will meet to organize and deliver shoes on Tuesday, September 3rd at 9:00 A.M.  Come join us to receive a special blessing as we pray over each pair of shoes.  Our September collection project for Re-Store will be school uniforms of any size and for any school.  Items can be placed in the collection baskets near the office entrance and the main doors of the sanctuary.  Our October and November collections for Re-Store will be jackets and blankets. Those of you who like to get an early start now know what to work on.

There will be a quarterly associational WMU meeting at East Fork Baptist Church on Monday, September 9th at 4:00 P.M.  All ladies are urged to participate.
