Surprise!  I didn’t think I would be posting this A.M., but here I am.

“All of you should be of one mind.

Sympathize with each other.

Love each other as brothers and sisters.

Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.”

Sylvester Humphrey (Director of Hope Center)

Sylvester was discharged from the hospital today; nearly two weeks in the hospital. Thank you all for the prayers. Please continue to pray for his complete recovery, as he still has some time before he is completely well. His blood count is still really low, and will be requiring Home Health, antibiotics, PT, respiratory treatments, etc. God is so good. He has blessed us through all of this. It is a blessing to have so many praying for him!! We love you all!!!

Doug Toney

Sunday May 31, 2015
Update: Doug is doing so much better, but has a very very long road of healing ahead of him. He was cleared to eat yesterday, but is having trouble with that. It will take time. He is awake more and talking more. Please continue to pray.

Summer Mixon

Update 5/31:  Summer Mixon is in a room, she is still having issues with her bilirubin being elevated. The doctors are consulting with a Tulane and Ochner liver specialist to discuss the next step in her recovery. As of now they are thinking she will need to be moved to Tulane or Ochner to be where the specialist is located but have not made any arrangements to move her as of yet. Thank you everyone for the continued prayers.

Koltyn Gafford

Koltyn is progressing very well with his therapy. He is able to pull his head up and hold it upright from a pull to sit position. This picture was taken while Brad was carrying him and he was picking his head up off his shoulders all by hisself.
His arms and legs are moving all over the place.
He is able to roll to his side unassisted.
He hates tummy time.
Just the other day we were given/donated a stander that helps him build his leg muscles back up. He has been able to stand in it for about 15mins at a time without his knees buckling, which is awesome. His personality is definitely starting to come back a lil more each and everyday. Anytime you talk to him he smiles or even chuckles back at you. This has been the greatest accomplishment for me to watch so far!
He is starting to recognize things and people a lot better. Kyler is able to keep him smiling and laughing all the time. He loves to watch his favorite character Marshal on Paw Patrol, it makes him laugh as well.
We are still having some issues with seizures which some days are better than others but aren’t going to get us down. We keep striving to get him to his next level of achievement. He is a very strong brave lil boy and will continue to progress each and every second of everyday.

Sylvester Humphrey is doing much better.  He has been moved to a regular room and no longer requires oxygen.  Pray for him (and Shirley) as he continues to improve.

Doug Toney is also progressing.  Please continue to pray for endurance for a long recovery for both Doug and Sandy.

Robbie Lynn Callihan Kirby has, thankfully, completed two years since being cleared of pancreatic surgery.  Please continue to pray for her.

Dr. Derry Magee is preparing for his heavenly home and will get his ticket there in a few days.  He family is arriving to be there for his “departure”.  I must add that he and “Miss” Dora were so special to our family when we moved to Kentwood.  We, like many others, felt a big hole in our town when they had the opportunity to go to Texas A&M.  Heaven will be gaining a great Christian man.

Michael (Mickey) Joseph Catalanotto

Born: May 14, 1933
Died: May 28, 2015

Michael (Mickey) Joseph Catalanotto, 82, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home in Roseland, LA. He was born May 14, 1933 in Amite, LA to Charles and Lucy Bellavia Catalanotto. Mickey grew up in Amite, LA. He attended Amite High School where he became known as “Cadillac” Catalanotto and was the “STAR” fullback for the Warriors. He continued his football career in college at LSU and played on the Freshman Baby Bengals team. “Cadillac” was known for “eating up a lot of yardage through the middle and off the ends.” Mickey married Betty Jean Strickland in 1953 in Raymond, MS. They were happily married for 63 years at the time of his death. Mickey began his teaching career at Kohn Junior High School in New Orleans where he taught and coached for 27 years. He completed his last three years as a teacher and coach at Independence High School. Mickey was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council 10911, and was instrumental in organizing the semi-annual Chicken Barbeques held at St. Helena Catholic Church Hall. Mickey was an avid outdoorsman. During the summer months, he spent time on his custom built shrimp boat, “Big Blue”. A good yield would be 800 pounds of shrimp and 3 hampers of crabs in one night. When Mickey and Betty moved to Roseland in 1982, he had a special connection with the land where he lived and would take great pride in grooming it and raising cattle. One of his favorite things to do was fishing. He always had an entertaining tale to tell after fishing with his friends or family. Mickey loved hunting with his beloved sidekick, Mocha. He was so proud of Mocha’s accomplishment as a Hunting Retriever Champion and played a big role in training Mocha. Mickey is survived by his spouse, Betty Strickland Catalanotto of Roseland; his children, Michael Charles Catalanotto (Toni) of Kenner, Judith Catalanotto Tesvich (Peter) of Hammond and one brother, Emile Catalanotto (Brenda) of Amite. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Amanda Tesvich Brown (Mark) of Charlottesville, VA, Preston Luke Tesvich of Melbourne, FL and Madison Laurel Catalanotto of Baton Rouge. In addition, Mickey is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Catalanotto and Lucy Bellavia Catalanotto. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Mark Beard and visitation will be held at St. Helena Catholic Church Hall at 122 South 1st Street, Amite, LA 70422 (985) 687-8422 on Monday, June 1, 2015. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM and a funeral mass will begin at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow the funeral mass at Greensburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nic LaBarbera, Mark Kolwe, Greg Marten, J.E. Lee, Mark Catalanotto and Daniel Goldsby. Honorary pallbearers will be Angelo Giardina, Charles Santora, Tommy Bellavia and John Campo. Masses said in Mickey’s honor will be most appreciated. Summer Mixon is still in Critical condition but stable. Her liver biopsy showed only the inflammation and the known NASH and Fatty liver disease. Which is a good thing.
