“I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God;

incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.”

~Psalm 17:6~

So far, so good with Isaac.  We have electricity, internet, and tv at this point.  Much more important than that, we are okay and do not know of a lot of damage from the storm.  Isaac is powerful, but God is more powerful!

Please continue to pray for Debi Bales’ mother, “Miss” Lucy, who is hospitalized in Ochsner in New Orleans.

Update from “Miss” Velta Morris

Dear friends and family,

First, thank you for your continued prayers for me.  I want to give you an update on what is going on right now with my lymphoma.

 A recent PET scan showed a suspicious spot in one area of my abdomen and a biopsy followed, confirming what the oncologist suspected – that the cancer in that area had become aggressive and needed treatment.  So today, he outlined a treatment plan, explaining all the things I could expect.  Before chemo begins, I will have two preliminary procedures done next week. My first round of chemo is scheduled for Tuesday, September 4.  I will have a total of 6 sessions, three weeks apart.

 I would appreciate your continued prayers as this new phase begins.  I felt God’s peace this morning and I know it was because I knew I was being covered by your love and prayers.  The road won’t be easy, but with your prayers and the Lord being with me every moment, I know we will get through it.  So many of you have sent encouraging words, phone calls, and emails to let me know you are praying.  I’m so grateful for each one of you who holds a special place in my heart.  My daughter-in-love, Merritt, is with me every step of the way and Bill is being so supportive.  In a short while his work out of town will be done and he will be home all the time!  My doctor is a Christian and that makes all the difference; very easy to talk with, and he said while being an oncologist is tough, he was in it because it was a calling.

 So, God is good, and I’m hopeful, as the doctor is, that these treatments will zap the bad place and then I will continue to be monitored.  Thank you for being there with me.  I won’t be sending out these updates for a while; it will be mid-December most likely before I’m done with the chemo sessions, so I will be sending a praise update at that time!

 God bless you all!

Friday

“I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

~Philippians 4:13 NIV~

Changes!  Lots of people are going through changes.  I just finished reading about a young mother putting her two children in school after moving to a new state.  Lots of people are facing school changes, empty nests, sickness, loss of loved ones, etc.  These times can seem so difficult!  This verse is a good one to cling to as changes invade our world.  Hold one!  God can/will help you though new seasons of your life.

Football season has begun/is beginning in our local schools.  Pray for safety of the players and those that are traveling many miles to follow their team.  Pray for good sportsmanship to rule over selfish feelings.  Pray for Christian love and attitudes to shine as an example for others.  Go, teams!
