~1 Kings 17:24b, HCSB~

Thankfulness: Day 9

Today, I’m thankful for friends – childhood friends, co-workers, former teachers, former students, church friends, neighborhood friends, etc.  Each of you have a special place in my heart.  You help to make me who I am and are there for me when I “need a friend”.  I hope I have been as good of a friend to you as you have been to me.

Thanksgiving: Day 8

Today, I am thankful God allowed me to be born into my family where I was loved, guided, and cared for each and every day.  I’m thankful for the role the extended family played in my life.  During the past year, I have enjoyed helping to care of my daddy (who is still very independent) and learning more about his life.  I appreciated his simple ways of saying he appreciates what I do for him.  We have been close for many years, but we are closer now.  I think of this relationship as a great blessing!

Thankfulness: Day 7

I’m thankful for six precious grandchildren.  Each one is unique and special in their own way.  They have my heart and represent the future of my family.  I’m thankful for the values they have already learned and expect all six to be well-balanced mature adults who will help make the world a better place.  I’m thankful for the firm foundation they have that will guide them as they mature.  Oh, how I love them!  I trust each of you to love your grandchildren just as much as I do mine.  As I pray for my grandchildren, I will also pray for all the other grandchildren, not by name, but as a group.  May they all be part of making this world better and staking out a home in eternity for themselves and others.

I hope you are counting your blessing this month.  Use a journal or whatever method works best for you, but count them.  You’ll find how blessed you really are.

Mrs. Mary Alice Blackwell’s memorial service will be at 11:00 today at FBC, Kentwood.  Continue to pray for the family.

Thankfulness: Day 3

Today, I’m thankful for my daughter.  She certainly changed my life in many ways, but all good.  I’m glad I have a God-serving, smart, independent, sweet, caring, competent,  and unpredictable daughter.  She has been much more than I ever dreamed of!  She has taught me to “hang on for the long, ride” through many journeys.  She’s also a caring wife and mother to four of my grandchildren.  I was certainly blessed when she was born!

Don’t forget to set your clocks back at 2 A.M. in the morning (or when you go to bed tonight).  If you don’t, you’ll go to church an hour too early in the morning.

Thankfulness: Day 2

Today, I’m thankful for my husband of 45 years.  We have been through both good times and hard times together.   He is a good daddy to our children and granddaddy to our grandchildren.  He loves older people, younger people, and those in the middle.  He  never meets a stranger and uses his time and energy to meet needs (and wants) and to share his faith, concern, smile, and sense of humor with others.

Have a fantastic Friday!

What’s That Thing You Always Do?

http://holleygerth.com/whats-that-thing-you-always-do/#comments

October 31st has a very special day in my memory.  One year ago today, David, Jennie, and I entered the Gamme Knife Surgery Center in New Orleans so they could “zap” the “inoperable” brain tumor in the very center of my head.  Today, I can humbly say the tumor is shrinking and I’m just fine!  Life had been so difficult for a couple of years, but what a difference it makes when you find the problem and go to someone who has the ability to correct the problem.  I had to put my trust (and my brain) in the hand of the doctors and God.  They both came through for me.  God still has more plans for me.  Today is a milestone!  It’s not what I ever thought would happen to me, but it did.  I’m glad I have this testimony and an opportunity to share it with you today.  I hope I live up to what God expects from me.
