Local ministry opportunity: Shirts and pants for men at Kentwood Manor

There is a need for clean, usable clothing for men.  If you have some men’s shirts and pants to share, please drop them off under the stairwell when you enter the office/fellowship hall building (where you buzz to have the door opened).  Most of the men wear small – medium sizes.     Thanks!

Pray for Majel and Jesse Dean today as Jesse has out-patient hand surgery today in Hammond.

Pray for little Everett Smith, son of Jason and Rebekah Alford Davis Smith.  He is hospitalized in McComb with RSV.  EMMETT HAS NOW BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH PNEUMONIA.

Many visitors will be in New Orleans today and in the coming weeks.  Pray for good judgment and safety for each one.

Thank God for a beautiful week, even if everything in your world was not perfect.  He is!

Please be in prayer for Sammy Ott, husband of Tammy McGehee Ott. He will have surgery in Jackson, MS on Thursday to remove his spleen. This surgery will help his platelet count stay elevated. We are praying this will be a success to help his leukemia go into remission. Thank you.

Rev. and Mrs. Richard Sandburg of New Zion have a new baby, a boy named David.  Thank God for this new life and pray for the growing family of four.

Dan Turner no longer need respiratory therapy.  Thank God for another step in Dan’s progress.

Pray for Patrick Hoosier as he has surgery scheduled.  Pray for the family too.

Read the Bible in 90 Days – Day 28 

Read through the end of II Kings.  (I realized we have read more than 1/4 of the Bible is less than a month.  This plan has worked so well for me.  When you get deep in one section of Scriptures, you don’t turn to another book of the Bible and pick up where you left off there.)

Continue to pray for Mr. Gordon Price.  He will be leaving rehab soon.  Pray for his caregivers too.

Mr. Robert Frohn’s surgery went well today.  If he does well tonight, he may be able to return home tomorrow.  Keep praying for him and for “Miss” Jennie.

Dan Turner may be able to be released from the rehab hospital in a couple weeks.  He will continue rehab when he gets home.  Pray for his family as they have been with him since the accident.  Pray for rest for each one of them.

Mr. Billy Travis, a resident of the 6th Ward, passed away Monday night.  Please be in prayer for “Miss” Doris and the other members of the family.

Lucille Ball Varnado, 101, died Aug. 6, 2012, in South Carolina.Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Osyka Baptist Church. The Rev. Milton Kliesch will officiate. Burial will be in Osyka Cemetery under the direction of Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home.Mrs. Varnado was born Feb. 28, 1911, in the Thompson community, to Iddo Wesley and Ada Alford Ball.She married Glen Varnado Sr. in 1937, and they had one son, Glen Varnado Jr.Mrs. Varnado was a school teacher for more than 50 years and taught in Osyka, where classes in her last years included grandchildren of her first pupils, as well as in Fernwood and Harrisville, Chesbrough, La., Indian Head, Md., and Parklane Academy.Because of Mrs. Varnado’s teaching achievements, Parklane named the library in her honor.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and two sisters.She is survived by her son, 28 nieces and nephews and more than 2,000 former pupils.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local school in honor of Mrs. Varnado

Continue to pray for Betty Taylor’s mother, Mrs. Zeigler.  As you pray for her, pray for her caregivers.

Pray real hard today for the ladies’ retreat that will be at FBC, Kentwood tomorrow.  Pray for the speaker to be healthy, the environment to be conducive to learning, our hearts to be open, and for them men who will be giving of themselves by preparing out lunch.

Dan Turner has some rest from intense therapy over the long weekend, but things will change today.  Pray for Dan as he works to get better.

Jill Brister will have back surgery today.  Pray this will relieve her of some of the pain she has been experiencing.

  • Please keep Billy Travis in your prayers. Also pray for his entire family as they tend to his needs.He is in North Oaks. He had issue with some bloood clots. He is better but still in the hospital.
  • A very dear and special lady, Tammy Ott, passed away yesterday. Please pray for the family as they mourn and prepare for the days ahead.  Tammy is married to Kerry Ott, she has two wonderful sons, Sawyer and Trustin.

(Tammy’s death notice is in the Enterprise Journal, but the arrangements are listed as incomplete.  ala)

Dan Turner is progressing very well in rehab.  Yesterday, he walked on his own, without a supporting harness.

Emme Brabham had the wires removed from her jaws yesterday.  She continues to progress.  Thankfully, she will now be able to eat without having to use a straw!

Dan Turner is making good progress in rehab.  Pray for continued improvement and for strength for the family as they continue this “marathon”.

Donnie Travis is healing from Tuesday’s surgery.  Keep him in your prayers.
