Saturday
We’ve had many days of bad weather. Today, it finally delayed posting TPL. First, my satellite was down. When it came it, the server for TPL needed to be rebooted. Such is the story of the technology we love to use each day.
Husbands, love your wives,
just as Christ loved the church
and gave himself up for her
Two couples we know celebrated 50 years of marriage yesterday. When couples stay married that long, love surely is a part of the marriage. That is because God is the third member of the team.
Pray for the youth from several area churches as they continue their long trip to camp today. I’m so glad each youth and each adult got to go.
Pray for Courtney Creel who will soon be going on a mission trip to Guatemala with a church from Birmingham.
Two area churches are having special events tomorrow.
- Pine Ridge will have their monthly breakfast to raise funds for a needy cause. The breakfast buffet will be served at 8 A.M.

Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid;

Many of the church youth will be leaving tonight for camp in Georgia this week. Pray for the camp to minister to them and touch their young lives. Pray for the adults who will accompany the youth that they will have wisdom and understanding, as well as patience. Pray for each youth to be open to all the opportunities to grow in the Lord. May the youth come back and be a mighty force in influencing other youth as well as the adults and children in our church.

SBC: The World’s Largest Family Reunion – https://www.imb.org/2017/06/22/sbc-the-worlds-largest-family-reunion/ – Take time to consider how your church could fill in your area of the map. We can make a bigger difference if we all work together!
Many of us will be shopping some in the next few days. Consider beginning your shopping for Operation Christmas Child. Items that you might consider – bars of soap, washcloths, toy cars and dolls, balls, small purses, and flashlights with batteries.
Have a blessed day! Be a blessing to someone!

You say, ‘I am rich;
I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’
But you do not realize that you are wretched,
pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

This verse doesn’t say so, but he also sends the rain and the sunshine.
Tropical storm “Cindy” will soon be here. I think I should ask you to be prepared for lots of rain. My neighborhood will not flood, but I pray for those facing more flooding, especially those who have not recovered from the flood of last August yet. Remember to take precautions ahead of time. http://www.actionnews17.com/news/tangipahoa-parish-government-monitors-tropical-weather-2124411
Continue to pray for the leaders of our world and our country.
Thank God for the many Vacation Bible Schools in our area this summer. I love seeing the many pictures posted on Facebook. I think VBS is the greatest thing churches do for children all year long. Thankfully, most churches have VBS and invest time, money, and love into it each year.

Friday Morning Bible Study will be at 10 A.M. Friday in the fellowship hall of FBC.
Operation Christmas Child will send “shoeboxes” to thousands of children in November IF we make our purchases and pack the boxes for shipment. To do this in a big way means we need to shop in a big way beginning now. Smart shoppers always have their eyes open for sales and for seasonal items. Those who shop now are welcome to bring their items to my Sunday School room. I will store them until we pack the boxes. We want to help some needy children have some special items and INTRODUCE THEM TO JESUS!
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

FBC, Kentwood has their bells(chimes) ringing at times that give people who attend church, but live out of town, get to hear them. People in town can enjoy them every day. Thanks to those who undertook to purchase the bells years ago and to those who keep them going today. The music is certainly beautiful.
Make a point of hearing some of the songs that first impacted your live.

Pray for all the children, including my to GA ones, who are headed off to camp in the next few days. I know of several groups headed out to several different camps. I pray they are safe and well-fed spiritually. I also pray for the youth leadership attending camps with them. May they have abounding love and patience as well as wisdom in dealing with all the situations they will face.
VBS finished at some churches and begins at others. Pray for young lives to be changed in the VBS opportunities.
I have noticed the music in some stores the last couple of days. Thankfully, I heard “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” and other wonderful hymns in one. It made my day happy.
More later….

you are blessed,
for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

I am happy to report that Denis Travis is doing better. The last I heard he was still in ICU at North Oaks.
Let’s continue to pray for Steve Scalise and others who were at the ball park in Alexandria, VA yesterday. God, please turn our people around and help us become a country with a focus on You as we were in the past.
Nikki Rhodus’ grandfather passed away yesterday. Please be in prayer for her family as they face this great loss.
Looking forward to Father’s Day Sunday. It’s a great time to honor some special men in your family.
I am loving all the Facebook posts of VBS in area churches. It’s wonderful to hear of the children’s response to those who volunteer each summer and impact young lives in such a positive way. God’s kingdom grows through VBS each summer. May we do our part to nourish the young lives all the rest of the year!
