Operation Christmas Child – I will have a list of items I need to complete the shoeboxes on a black clipboard under the stairs to the balcony.  These are the items we need to complete the shoeboxes we plan to fill.  If you would like to help, please sign in the with the items you will bring by next Sunday.  Thank you for helping pack these boxes to deliver hygiene items, gifts, and a booklet about Jesus that will introduce a class to teach children about Jesus in their own language.  Or donations to pay for postage are at 51%.  You many mark your envelope “Postage for OCC”.

The shoeboxes are folded, the labels are ready, most of the gifts are in.  Packing of shoeboxes will be three weeks from tonight.  I am so excited!  I hope you will plan to be there.

Let your actions today show Jesus to others.

Maddie’s Miracles – Maddie is the granddaughter of a friend and former classmate.  You can read the posts on Facebook.  She is a beautiful young lady.

Maddie went back for her check up today (Monday). The pneumonia is still there and has moved. The pulmonologist said her lungs sound like a hurricane. She will take ten more days of antibiotics and see if it gets any better. She can’t get back on her kidney meds or get her port fixed until this clears up. Please pray for it to be gone!! She is still very tired and wheezy but no fevers so that’s a blessing. Thanks to all our prayer warriors! God is so very good ALL the time.

Bro. Mike Stafford, pastor of Greenlaw Baptist Church, is in OLOL undergoing some unplanned medical tests.  Please pray for him.

Josiah Huckaby – grandson of Bubba and Linda Huckaby

I can’t believe our little man turned 7 months old yesterday! Seems so crazy that it’s been that long since we started this journey. He is doing good & is off of the invasive ventilator. He is still on the non-invasive ventilator but definitely an improvement from where he was last week. He still hasn’t had his heart cath. They have rescheduled it for tomorrow. This is our 4th time being on the schedule so hopefully he won’t get bumped tomorrow for any emergencies. We are ready to have a clearer picture of what is going on. God is good & He’s got this!

Phillip Strickland‘s testimony was shared by his parents.  They also thanked those who have prayed for Phillip.  I’m passing it on to you.  Phillip is taking another treatment today.

My God is an awesome God!! In December of 2016 I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and was told I had one of the largest tumors these doctors have ever seen. Through prayers and my faith in God, after my rounds of radiation that tumor was completely gone and everyone was amazed at the response to treatment that I had. After my surgery to remove the remaining disease we found out the cancer had spread to my liver which they think it had probably been there all along but didn’t show up in the type scans I initially had. Though this was a set back, I never lost faith because I knew God had my back and I knew I had lots of people praying for me. After my 6th chemo treatment we had another round of scans and as of today I have no active cancer cells in my liver. I still have a long journey ahead of me but I wanted to make this post today as a testament to my faith in God’s healing power and his love. #strongerthancancer

Wednesday Night at 6 P.M. – Children of FBC, Kentwood will have missions and crafts class.

“Holy Bible, Book Divine” – I’ve had the privilege of teaching the children at church Bible Drill classes this summer.  It is amazing what they can learn and remember.  It’s never too early, or too late, to begin teaching children about the Bible.

Operation Christmas Child – Only 25 days until the packing party!  It’s time to begin finalizing that we have what we need for the “shoeboxes”.  David and I are so excited to be a part of this ministry!

Our prayers count!

Monday

“Do not be misled:

‘Bad company corrupts good character.’”

 ~1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV~

I’m thankful we were spared any of the problems associated with Hurricane Nate.  Yesterday was a beautiful day in Kentwood.  That makes me remember that God can take a life headed for hell and turn it around.  That life can be a blessing and an example for others.

Sunday, we had the opportunity to worship with many of our neighbors.  We enjoyed being a part of their congregation for the day.  We found time to visit our friend, “Miss” Ruby, in the hospital and to twice spend time working with Operation Christmas Child donations.  If you would like to make purchases of needed items, please ask me about current needs or check the list under the stairs to the balcony.

David and I get more excited as time gets closer to being able to ship and pack the items in three and a half weeks.  This project means so much to us because we have seen the shoeboxes as they were received and opened by children.  We know each box represents gifts, but the greatest gift in each shoebox is the opportunity to learn and accept Jesus, not only for the recipient, but for the extended family who will all get to hear about Jesus.  I’m thankful for Samaritan’s Purse!

Saturday

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.

We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2Thessalonians 1:11-12

When we go to the hospital or nursing home, I often wonder who is there that we would visit is only we knew they were there.  I remember the day when there was a patient list available for visitors, but understand why that is not the case at the present time.  This leads me to say that even though we saw three friends at the St. Helena Hospital/ Nursing Home Tuesday, there were at least two more we would have visited if we had only know they were there.  Mrs. Anne Hurst is in the hospital and Mrs. Judy Purvis in the nursing home.  (I forgot the new last name for the second lady and didn’t ask Rusty or Becky because I think many of you will recognize her Purvis name better.)   I appreciate receiving phone calls from some of you who help me know about friends and family members that I need to list here.

Read the Bible – Acts 5-6 & Psalm 121

The Two Rivers  meeting planned for Sunday night at FBC, Kentwood has been postponed a week due to “Nate”.  I assume we may revert to our usual Sunday night schedule.

Yesterday, Henry and Virginia McKenzie and David and I worked on counting and sorting the items we now have for Operation Christmas Child “shoeboxes”.  We have what we need for most items, which is very good.  The key items we still could use are washcloths, pencils. and pens.  Since I called the names of those who helped yesterday, I would also like to say Miles Hatchel, Jennie Hatchel, Diane Simons, Ora Lee Wilson, and Summer Clemsons have also helped.  Many of you have  contributed.  This is an enormous project that is possible only with your support.  Thank-you all for supporting Operation Christmas Child!  Check the poster by the piano to see how we progress on collecting postage to ship the boxes.

I’m thankful to hear “Nate” will not be as strong as some of the past hurricanes.  Let’s continue to pray for those in the path of the storm wherever it choses to go.

Make today a blessing to someone by your words and actions today.

Anna Lee

Theople Hurst was released from the care of her doctor who did her recent gall bladder surgery.  “Miss” Theople is most anxious to get back to church.

Jimmy Alford, David’s brother, saw his new cancer specialist yesterday to discuss the plan for treatment.  Pray for Jimmy as he begins a tough round of treatment.

Ruby Dillon has had two or three more difficult days.  Pray for “Miss” Ruby as doctors are still trying to identify her problem.  Pray also for Mr. “Cete”, her personal caregiver.

Operation Christmas Child – Washcloths are still needed!

Postage for “shoeboxes” is still needed.  When I think of how much it costs me to mail a shoebox size package to my family overseas, I quickly realize what a bargain this postage really is!

Georgia Barnett Offering for Louisiana meets needs.  Remember, 100% of the money given goes directly into various projects here in Louisiana.

“Work, for the Night is Coming”

I don’t usually include weather information, but with “Nate” quickly coming our way, I want to ask you to prepare in the way that is best for you and your family.  It looks like it will be hear during the very early hours Sunday.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated by others.  Keep them coming.

Rene Terrell of Osyka had a 99% heart blockage that was repaired with a stent.  She is home now and feels thankful.  You can join her in thanking God for a successful procedure.

Jake Fowler broke his right thumb in the Sumner football game.  He required surgery, which was yesterday morning in Covington.  I called Wendy yesterday and found her mom was there with Jake as he rested.  The break was worse than everyone first thought.

Dominic Terrese, a classmate from Amite High is hospitalized following a hear attack.  As you pray for him, please also pray for his wife, Jane, and other family members.  Dominic and Jane live in Loranger.

George Cutrer had a post surgery check-up.  All seems to be going well.  Thank God for George’s good report.

Donna Fay Miller was able to return home late yesterday afternoon.  I’m sure she is so thankful to have her procedure done and be back at home.  Thank you for praying for her.

Remaining Faithful

School has been underway for at least a month, just long enough for students to get settled in to new routines, teachers, and classmates. Many missionary kids (MKs) are homeschooled, some attend local national schools, and others go to boarding school. College-aged MKs are usually thousands of miles and oceans away from their families. Please pray for MKs as they face unique challenges like extraordinarily slow internet, homesickness, or adjustments living in a different culture than the one where they grew up. Pray that they will remain faithful to God as they grow in knowledge of Him.

(This came to my computer this morning.  Since I have four MKs, one a college freshmen and three in an international school at home (Europe), I felt it might encourage others to pray for children who live in cultures and environments different to what children around here do.

Operation Christmas Child – If you are interested in making some purchases this week, please check out the blue page on the black clipboard on the table under the stairs to the balcony.  Sign the page for items will will purchase.  Thanks!

One month from today, we will have our Operation Christmas Child “Shoebox” packing party.  Please plan to be there to share in this awesome experience.

nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.

Josiah Huckaby (written by KK Huckaby)

Josiah was supposed to have his heart cath today but the plan changed. He will be having it tomorrow though. As of right now, it will be earlier in the morning (around 7:30ish but could change if an emergant case is added to the schedule). This will be mostly diagnostic. If they see a pulmonary vein that is constricted enough to need intervention, they will either balloon it to stretch it or put a stint in. Praying for an informative and safe heart cath. We will keep everyone posted…as much as possible. It will be a bit of a crazy day tomorrow so please be patient with us on updates. To God be the glory!!!

Pray for Rene Deck Terrell as she has a heart procedure this morning.  She will be thankful for your prayers.

The Senior Adult revival will continue this morning at New Zion Baptist Church.  Rev. Ernest Graham will be the speaker.  I am always amazed and blessed to see more than a dozen pastors stand together and know why they are serving Him.  Coffee and donuts will be available at 9:30.  Choir practice will begin at that time also.  The meeting officially begins at 10:00 and concludes with lunch.

The Operation Christmas Child Packing Party will be one month from tomorrow night, on November 4th.  We are beginning to purchase the items we need to complete the “shoeboxes”.  If you have an opportunity to shop in the next day or two, we still need some soap and washcloths.

The cost of transporting “shoeboxes” is $9.00 per box this year.  After sending packages internationally via to Brazil and Europe for more than twenty years, I can tell you this is a great price!  What cost would you be willing to pay to save a child and possible a whole family?  No matter where you are helping with “shoeboxes”, a school, a church, or a business, I’m sure you will be richly blessed by knowing the opportunities your box(es)  will give to children who might not get to learn about Jesus if it were not for you!

Continue to pray for all the people whose lives were forever changed in Las Vegas Sunday night.  Also, pray for those at church Sunday, in any hospital, on any military battle site, extended care facility, wearing a police uniform, climbing an electrical pole to provide services, driving down the highway, giving birth to a new baby, those being admitted to any ER, driving a bus load of children, etc.  Life can change quickly.  It is vital to know and have God as Savior of of souls.

(God our Savior) desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

~1 Timothy 2:4 NKJV~

Monday

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.

Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Shelbie Travis is scheduled to return home today and a long stay at two different hospitals.  She will have home health checking on her twice a day.  Thank you for all your prayers for her.

Donna Fay Miller will have a heart ablation early this morning at OLOL.  Pray for Donna Fay to know God’s peace as she goes for this procedure.

Maddie’s Miracle points our the current needs for Mattie, the granddaughter of a high school classmate and friend.  The family certainly appreciates your prayers.

Barbara Battles is hospitalized with an infection.  Let’s pray they get this cleared up quickly.

Last night, I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with the youth from FBC, Kentwood about Operation Christmas Child.  Then, they folded 200 shoeboxes in about 20 minutes.  I must tell you they were wonderful listeners and hard workers.  They even moved the boxes to the room we will use for our packing party on November 4th.  Those who work with them regularly and their parents can be very proud of the fine young people they are.

The Senior Adult Revival begins this morning with coffee and choir practice at 9:30 with the meeting at 10:00 followed by lunch.  Bro. Randy from Mt. Nebo will be the speaker.  This is always a wonderful opportunity.

Thursday is “Take Your Bible to School Day”.  I think the name explains itself well.
