BEFORE I WAS A MOM. . .

Before I was a Mom,
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom,
I slept as late as I wanted.
I never worried about how late I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom,
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys.
I never forgot words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been . . .
puked on
pooped on
spit on
chewed on
peed on
or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom,
I had complete control of my mind, thoughts and body.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a Mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never known . . .
the warmth
the joy
the love
the heartache
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much . . . before I was a Mom.

“She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Her children rise up and call her blessed.” (Proverbs 31:27-28a).

May God’s richest blessings be with each of you mothers.

Just wanted to ask you to be in prayer for the McNabb family once again. My mom’s sister passed away this morning (Alma Ashford). She resided in Baton Rouge as well.

Pray for “Miss” Catherine.  She lost a sister-in-law one day and a sister the next.  I know she will appreciate your prayers.

You may remember the urgent request from the IMB concerning a worker who was threatened about an upcoming project.  The worker has decided to continue as planned.  Thank God for this worker with the determination to do what He wants him to do.  Pray great things happen as you pray for protection for all involved.

Majel stopped by Daddy’s room this afternoon to say Jesse was probably coming home later today.  Pray Jesse Dean continues to heal and regain strength.

As I was leaving the hospital, I saw two members of Larry Bankston‘s family.  Larry has had some attention for the past few days and may be able to go home tomorrow.

At this point, Daddy is also scheduled to come home tomorrow.  Pray for his new medication to be effective.  Thank God the tests have been having good, but unexpected, results.  Pray for Momma and Daddy to quickly overcome the recent problems and return to their “normal”.

Samaritan’s Purse Responds to
Historic Floods in Nashville


Dear Friend,

Much of Nashville is under water, thousands of people in Tennessee have been driven from their homes, and nearly 20 people have died in some of the worst flooding in memory.

Our first Disaster Relief Unit arrived in Nashville last night, and we are coordinating a response with local church partners. Volunteers are being mobilized from across the country. More emergency relief equipment is on the way.

Our crews specialize in cleaning out mud-soaked houses so that they can be repaired. As we work, we help families cope with their losses and offer them hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Just a few days ago, I was in Nashville for the Dove Awards at the Grand Ole Opry House, which is now flooded. It is hard to imagine the scope of the destruction.

The people of Nashville need our prayers. So do victims of recent tornadoes in Mississippi and floods in Rhode Island, where Samaritan’s Purse also has deployed Disaster Relief Units. Thank you for lifting them up and helping to meet their needs in the Name of Jesus. May God bless you.

Great News!  The TEE done on Daddy this afternoon showed his heart valve to be free of bacteria.  Daddy has also been moved to the telemetry unit of the hospital.  Thank you for praying and please keep praying.

Please add the family of Louise McNabb to the prayer link. She lived in Baton Rouge and passed away yesterday. Aunt Louise was the sister-in-law of Catherine Yarborough. The services will be in Baton Rouge on Saturday. She will be buried in Tangipahoa Cemetery. Thanks! Tammie Roberts

Makynna is the 4 year daughter of Krista and Justin Keller Justin is working in Indiana and they are there visitin Makynna has been vomiting and having headaches …. they are headed to the hospital now and hopefully but noon we will know more…please keep them in your prayers

I visited with Majel this morning.  Jesse is improving, but have been very ill.  He’s having a test today.  Keep praying for the Deans.

Mr. Billy Brabham is continuing to try to receive his treatments.  Please pray for him and the extended Brabham family.

Daddy’s problem has been identified.  He has a bacteria in his blood.  Tests are being done to determine more.  Pray for Momma as she tries to stay at the hospital with him.  My sisters and I will take turns.  Pray for Daddy.

Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 12 Noon Friday. Interment Hyde Cemetery, Roseland. Survived by parents, Ivy Wall, Jr. and Sandra Crawford Wall, Amite, brother, Huck Wall and his wife, Kelly, Amite, sister, Deborah Miller, Amite, 3 nephews, Ben Miller, Ivy Wall, IV, Ivan Wall, 2 nieces, Brandi Miller, Grace Kelli Wall, great-nephew, Preston Miller. Preceded in death by niece, Ashley Sue Miller.

Christians are to look at others through caring eyes.  Traits first perceived as negative may be positive when examined in the light of love.  Without being naive, encouragers should make it a habit to put the best possible construction on any situation.  The discourager sees John as stubborn, but the encourager considers him persistent and determined.  The critic sees Jane as bossy, but the consoler sees her as an assertive person who gets results.  The faultfinder says Bob talks too much, but the the positive person says he is outgoing and friendly, a real people person.

A resident of Roseland, died at 2:18 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born June 5,1915 in New Orleans and was 94 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Andrew Kleinpeter, Jr. and survived by a number of nephews. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment Hughes Cemetery, Amite.
