Prayer Focus:

Let’s pray for those who had damage from the tornadoes locally and across the South. At this time, authorities say the death total is 35. None of those are Kentwood.

While we are focused on the tornado, others in our country are focussed on fires, dust storms, etc. There are many victims to be prayed for. Thankfully, God is able to help those who have all these needs at the same time. What a mighty, loving, and caring God!

    Annie Armstrong Week of Prayer

    This special focus was for last week, but please continue to pray for North American Missions (or Home Missions as we called it in my younger days. That means praying for those in the US, Canada, and many many countries around these two. I think of these other countries as small islands around these two larger countries.

    Yes, there are still many unsave peope all around us. Let’s work together to share “the message” with them.

    Jerry Wayne Barber

    December 2, 1956 – March 8, 2025

    Jerry Wayne Barber, a resident of Montpelier, passed away at home on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Jerry was born December 2, 1956 in Mt. Hermon, LA and was 68 years of age. He was a member of Montpelier Baptist Church. Jerry found the most joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved life and enjoyed the outdoors where he found adventures in fishing, camping, and tubing. Jerry hosted the best crawfish boils for his family and friends, loved gardening and tending to his roosters. A unique experience for Jerry was the time he spent being a jockey and training horses. Serving his community, Jerry was a long time Fire Chief for The Village of Montpelier and retired from Daley Sand and Gravel. Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julie Marie Barber; son, Jason Barber and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Alyssa Barber, Kody Barber, Madison Montecino, Noah Bel, Jaycielyn Barber, and Cody Freeman; and one great-grandchild, Wes Michael Wade Crow; one brother, Gary “Spooky” Barber; and three sisters, Elizabeth Barber Seal, Dedra Cutrer Hamby, and Norma F. Jordan. Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Chad Wade Barber; father, Wade Barber, father, Roger Cutrer; mother, Daisy Warner Cutrer; brothers, Russell and Rodney Barber; sister, Bernice Abadie; nephews, Cody A. Roberts, Kenden M. Seal, and Jarrett “Jay” Varnado. Visitation at Montpelier Baptist Church from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.     Blakeley Ryan Lawson

    January 7, 1971 – March 5, 2025

    A resident of Greensburg, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He was born January 7, 1971 in Baton Rouge, LA and was 54 years of age. Blake will be remembered for his kind and loving nature. He was a longtime care giver for his father. He is survived by his father, Bobby Lawson; mother, Barbara Walker; aunts, Gale Walker and Fran Walker; cousins, Amy Kent, Deborah Browning, Mark Browning, Ashley Walker, Amber Walker, Stanan Capdeboscq, and Court Lawson; special friends, Wade Daniels, Kris Wells, and Cody Callihan.
