Friday Addition

From Jan Yarborough

Asking for prayers for my son, Mike who is in the hospital in Virginia. He is in ICU for a large bleeding ulcer. They have given him five units of blood so far. The doctor went in and cauterized the ulcer Thursday morning but said if that didn’t fix it they would have to do surgery to close it up. Please remember Mike in your prayers. Thanks so much.

Please be in prayer for Tarra Lee’s mom and Allen.  Their home burned last night.  Also pray for little Emme Alstyn because this home was like her second home.

Friday

Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.

~Matthew 21:21~

Read and Write the Bible

  • During March, we will focus on serving others.
  • March 1st – I John 3: 16-18

There continue to be many families and individuals to pray for.  One way you can minister to them is to share a mutual story, memory, or photo.  Serving others helps you take the focus off yourself!

As a child, I remember a Sunday School class at Roseland Baptist Church named “JOY”.  A sign on the door said

     J – Jesus first

    O – Others second

    Y – Yourself last.

I do not remember who the members of the class were, but I often think that real joy does come from placing Jesus and others before myself.

Pray for Bryan and Rita Tate as they spend most of this month in Texas for his treatment at MD Anderson.

Sometimes you get off to a slow start, but work hard to catch up.  That seems to be true for Operation Christmas Child.  They suggest you purchase, make, and gather quality crafts for the shoeboxes that will be packed in the fall.  Feel free to bring your items to the Sunday School classroom next to the choir room.  Thanks so much.

Monday, Judy Noonan of FBC, Greensburg will lead the Two Rivers Associational WMU meeting in a brief study of the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions.  The meeting will begin at 10 and conclude with a covered dish lunch.

Jennie met up with Boyd at the Atlanta airport.  Her plane was late and his was early so they managed to fly on to Richmond together where they will be in IMB meetings for the next week or so.  David and I survived the first day without her wonderful help.

Thursday

Read the Bible – Luke 10:25-28.

This is a big day for our family. Jennie gets to see Boyd in Richmond and David and I get back to being responsible for his medicine and other things Jennie has taken care of lately. We are so thankful she came. Next, we look forward to Jason’s family coming back in early April. Thanks to many of you who have prayed for us, brought us food, and made kind offers to help.

Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.”

~Psalm 27:13-14 NASB~

Pray for Bryan Tate as he begins another round of antibiodies in Houston.

Yesterday, David went to Ochsner Cancer Center for labs, a doctor’s appointment, and Procrit.  The doctor said the blood level was sufficiently high so David did not need the injection to help him build red blood cells yesterday.   Pray the rest of this week will be less eventful than last week.

In the excitement of David’s fall, I failed to share about Mrs. Battaloa’s death.

~Psalm 100:5 TLB~

A friend requested prayer for Earl Warren of Roseland.

Even though we watched the morning worship service from Ochsner Hospital, I understand God really gave the people of FBC, Kentwood a great morning – women’s breakfast, blood drive, and youth-led morning worship!  I’m so thankful for the online morning worship services.

We got David home from the hospital yesterday afternoon.  He if feeling stronger after three units of blood.  Today, he goes back for his Procrit injection and labs.  Pray for us as Jennie prepares to return to her family.  She flies out Thursday morning.

Read and Write the Bible – I John 3: 1-3

The “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party will be Tuesday at the Burger Basket at 11:00 A.M.  Ladies with February birthdays will be honored.

Sunday

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;  but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

~Isaiah 40:30-31~

David is receiving his third unit of blood.  We don’t know if he will be coming home or staying for additional testing or treatment.  Thanks for your prayers.

I received some updates from Bro. Darryl.

  • Linda Callihan is doing very well and is back to working some.
  • Ferrie Gene Blackmon is doing well.
  • Oops!  I don’t remember any more this morning, but you probably do.  Please pray as needed.

Read and write the Bible for yesterday and today.

  • Micah 6:8
  • I John 2: 15-17

Pine Ridge is having its monthly breakfast benefit at 8:00 this morning.  Enjoy a great breakfast and help someone with a special need.

FBC, Kentwood is having a blood drive today.  It was in the Lighthouse (old post office) last year.  Stop by to make a difference.  Yesterday, the head oncologist at Ochsner said there is only one source of blood, people.  So people who can, give some to help others!

If I have my dates right, this morning there is a breakfast for ladies at 8;45 and a brief speaker before Sunday School at FBC, Kentwood.

Think about your life this week.  Who has physical needs?  Who has spiritual needs?  Who has other needs?  I think this will give you lots of opportunity for prayer.

Saturday

We’ve had a busy morning. David fell and hit his head. We are at the ER in Greensburg. The cut is right next to his last injury and has been glued. There are other issues to consider. He will be admitted to the ER and hospital at Ochsner on O’Neal. Please be in prayer for us. “Faith is not knowing the future, but knowing who holds the future!”
