Prayer Focus
Today, let’s focus our prayers on Sunday.
- Let’s pray for people to attend Sunday School. (Alford Ruling: Getting there early allows you to settle in with your Bible and other books, get settled for class and to spend some time visiting with your classmates and those you meet as you walk from your vehicle to your classroom, to review your lesson, to hang a map, etc.)
- Let’s pray for our heart to be prepared for worship. Many people find that getting settled and praying silently help them get ready for worship. Other people use the time to meet and greet (meet those they don’t already know and to greet those they do know).
- Pray for your pastor and other leaders.
- Participate in the worship service by focusing on everything and participating to the best of your ability.
- Reading the Scripture from your Bible as the pastor reads it aloud.
- Some people like to take notes to remember better and to have a hard copy to refer to later. (I have been doing that for 50+ years!)
- During the invitation, pray. Pray for people to step-out as their heart leads them to do so. Pray for others as they pray about needs you are not aware of and don’t need to be aware of.
- If decisions are made and the pastor asks people to stand at the front of the church so members can come us and speak to them, do just that. Take the time to speak to, meet, and encourage others.
- Pray at some time later that day for people who attended to be reminded of the service all during the week.
- Thank God for the opportunity to be in a class and the worship service. Act on the message as it touched your heart.
