Janice Freeman Young Carvajal

March 3, 1946 – February 25, 2024

A resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at her home. She was born March 3, 1946 in McComb, MS and was 77 years of age. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Janice was full of joy and always met you with a smile. She loved her family, friends, her precious animals, Oak Forest Academy, and LSU football. Mostly Janice loved her church families and enjoyed a personal relationship with her Lord. She is survived by her husband, Frank Carvajal; one son, Steve Strickland (Melanie); grandsons, Kenneth Strickland (fiancé Makenna), Collin Floyd, and  Matthew Stinson (Angela). Preceded in death by 1 son, Kenneth Scott Strickland; a husband, Clayton Young; and her mother and father, Geneva (Dolllie) and Willie Freeman. Pallbearers will be Steve Strickland, Matthew Stinson, Lathan Campo, Kenneth Strickland, Samuel Floyd and James Floyd. Visitation at Pine Ridge Methodist Church, Kentwood, from 10:00AM until religious services at 2:00PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Services conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael Townsend and Rev. Jacob Williams. Interment Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine Ridge, LA. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pine Ridge Methodist Church or Osyka Baptist Church in Janice’s memory.
