Health Concerns

Mrs. Alice Faye Lee requests we pray for her daughter, Angela Shockley, who has heart issues requiring surgery. Pray for her as she works to get this scheduled.

Mrs. Ora Lee Wilson requests prayer for her granddaughter, Shontell, who also needs surgery and awaits answers to questions about her health.

I failed to give you an update on Ruby Travis. Her shoulder surgery was more complicated than expected. Pray for her as she goes through the healing process.

Kenneth Wayne Roberts

June 26, 1964 – February 21, 2024

Kenneth Wayne Roberts, age 59, passed away unexpectedly at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. He was born in McComb, Mississippi on June 26, 1964 to Sondra McGehee Reed and Alton “Shug” Roberts. Ken was a graduate of Parklane Academy and Louisiana State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. As a resident of Baton Rouge and an entrepreneur at heart, his passion for the Tigers led to the creation of Tiger Mania Inc., a retail store serving the LSU community. In addition, he was a member of the Kentwood Rotary club and Tiger Athletic Foundation. Ken was a loving husband of 26 years to his wife, Kasey. A father and step father, Ken considered his children as one of his greatest achievements. He devoted his life to their happiness. Ken spent much of his time outdoors at his property in Kentwood, which was his pride and joy. He hosted many sports-viewing events and Bourre nights with his core group of friends at “The Shop”. He was known for his wit, playful sarcasm and loyalty. He was a private man, but known for his unending generosity that could be seen in the care of his family and closest friends. He is survived by his wife, Kasey Kirby Roberts; children Michael Preston Roberts and Halle Jane Roberts; step-daughter, Kassidy Shea Warwick; grandchildren Cayden Grace, Emma Hingle, Cooper Hingle, mother Sandy Reed; brother Brent Reed and wife, Tara; sister Cyndi Reed Miller; family friend Earl Wall; mother-in-law, Veronica Kirby, sisters-in-law, Kathy Kirby, Kary Kirby, brother-in-law, Clint Kirby, as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his brother Russell Roberts; his father Alton “Shug” Roberts; stepfather, AW Reed, and father-in-law, Shelby Kirby. Visitation at Kentwood Methodist Church from 10:00 am until religious service at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Graveside service to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Services conducted by Pastor Geoff Davis. Pallbearers are Phil Connelly, Eric Lewis, Todd Lee, Craig Easley, Tom Simmons, Wendell Simmons, Preston Roberts and Brent Reed. Honorary Pallbearers are Jamie Spears, Bruce Harrell, Kerry Ott, Kirk Lee. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA). Floyd Wilson Dean Jr.

Floyd Wilson Dean Jr., 93, passed away on Thurs. Feb. 22, 2024, at his home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Mon. Feb. 26, 2024, from 10:30am-12pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 12pm on Mon. Feb. 26, 2024, at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS. Graveside Services will be held at 3:30pm on Mon. Feb. 26, 2024 at Line Creek Cemetery in Kentwood, LA.

 

Mr. Dean was born on June 26, 1930, in Roseland, LA to the late Floyd Wilson Dean Sr. & Ora Jennings Dean. He served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 36 years from Shell Oil Company. Mr. Dean was a member of Crossview Baptist Church in Brandon, MS and the Pearl River Bass Club. Mr. Dean also loved spending time outdoors and with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Isabel Dean; daughter, Keri Dean Phillips; son, John Wilson Dean (Renee); 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Pat Dean.
