Bret Mathew Ainsworth

February 25, 1959 – August 20, 2023

Bret Ainsworth, Sr. passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 64.  He was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1959 in Houston, Texas to the late Virginia Fannaly and the late Lyndoll Ainsworth.  He was a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana.

Bret’s journey on this Earth was one filled with resilience and a deep-seated love for the gulf.  His career as a commercial fisherman spanned several decades. The sea became not just his workplace but also his sanctuary–a place where he found solace and rejuvenation.  Bret’s dedication to his craft earned him tremendous respect among his peers and fellow fishermen.  Although he is no longer with us, his legacy will endure through the memories he leaves behind.  His tenacious spirit, unwavering dedication, and loving nature are etched forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

Bret is survived by his son, Bret Ainsworth II & son’s wife Amanda; grandchildren Jason Breaux, Arianna, Ava & Brooklyn Ainsworth; his best fur-friend, Graham; family members that was like a son to him, Bart Tregle (Debbie); & Bart’s daughter Kadi.
