Delores Shirley Bennett

March 25, 1930 – August 23, 2023

Psalm 27:4

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. 

Delores Shirley Bennett was a native of Osyka, MS and a resident of Denham Springs. She died at 7:53 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at her home. She was 93. She was retired from National Tea Company. Visitation will be held at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the religious service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Ronny Grant. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. She is survived by her two sons, James “Danny” Bennett, Jr. and Darrell Bennett (Melissa), six daughters, Paula Diane Dunn (Bill), Gail Bratcher (Larry), Jerry Jacobs (Howard), Jimminette Phillips (David), Carole Anne Brocksmith (Ronny), and Flo Barker (David); 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Virginia Shirley. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Harmon and Nora Dunnam Shirley of Kentwood, 3 brothers, Vernon (Alice), James (Mary) and Harmon Shirley, 5 sisters, Elsie Vest (Hollis), Inez Stephens, Vernice Cook (Jimmy), Catherine Middleton (Johnny), Bonnie Jean Shirley, one grandson, Andrew “Drew” Dunn, and two great- grandsons, Harley Wisdom and Butch Mullins. Delores attended Swaggart Ministries Family Worship Center of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love a Child Charity or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to Crystal and Renee of Genevieve Hospice for the care given and support of the family.
