Lydia Moore Hawkins

September 26, 1927 – January 30, 2018

A resident of Amite passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born September 26, 1927 in Arcola and was 90 years of age. She is survived by 2 daughters, Charlsee Amanda Hawkins and Regina Kaye Tharp; grandchildren, Charles Alford, Houston Alford, Amanda Dorsa, Timmy Alford, Jamie Stevenson, and Cari Yates; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Cleo J. Moore, Jr. and Cecilia Vessier Moore; husband, Charlie James Hawkins; son, Robert Wayne Hawkins; brothers and sisters, Lorena Mae Wimberly, Cleo J. Moore, Jr., Mary Pevey, and Alma Moore. Graveside Services will be held at Arcola-Roseland Cemetery at 1:00PM Friday, February 2, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
