Wyman Slaven
(September 21, 1930 – April 3, 2013)

A resident of Kentwood, died at 3:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born September 21, 1930 in Magnolia, MS and was 82 years of age. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Flora Belle Potts Slaven; daughter, Teresa Gwynette Slaven Gill and husband, Jason Hillary Gill; daughter in law, Lisa Ann Allen Slaven; grandchildren, Hillery Caroline Gill, Tabbitha Nikole Gill, ReAnna Leigh Gill, Marsha Ann Slaven Barras and husband, Keith Joseph Barras, Tessa Lenn Slaven Creel and husband, Douglas Paul Creel; 2 great grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Barras and Kalenn Jade Barras; numerous nieces and nephews; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Inez Slaven Blades and Margaret Slaven Bethany. He is preceded in death by son, Glenn Estess Slaven, grandson, Steven Lance Slaven; 5 brothers, John Cleve, T.C. Otis Slaven, Jr (Bones), Huey P., and Sam Richard; one sister, Eloise Slaven Phillip and parents Otis Slaven and Delitha Brooks Slaven. Visitation at East Fork Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, and from 10 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Services conducted by Rev. Mike Shumock and Dr. Danny Smith. Interment East Fork Cemetery, McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements.

 George Henry Tate, Sr.
(August 9, 1920 – April 1, 2013)

A lifetime resident of Tangipahoa, Louisiana went to be the Lord on April 1, 2013. He was born August 9, 1920 and was 92 years of age. He served in WWII and owned and operated a dairy farm for forty years. He is survived by George H. Tate, Jr and wife, Ming Ling, Tangipahoa; Charles Ronald Tate and wife Jackie, Bolivar; Candace Tate Lunn and husband, Tony, South Carolina; Bess Tate Kling, Tallahassee, FL; Ronald J. Lipton, Tallahassee, FL; five grandchildren, Charlsa Hollie and husband, Vince, Tangipahoa, Frances Tate, Kentwood; Ross Tate, Kentwood; Forrest Collette, Natchez, MS; Lauren Lipton, Tallahassee, FL; three great grandchildren, Kristy and Eli Hollie and Blaze Winzenried. Also survived by a brother, Casey Tate, Tangipahoa as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Morris Tate; parents, Charles and Bessie Tate; a brother, James Tate and a sister, Fairy Tate Viola. The family would like to express their gratitude to Kentwood Rehab, Kentwood Manor Nursing Home and for hospice care.
