I forgot to mention Roger Pittman. He will be having heart surgery in McComb this morning. Pray for surgeons as they attempt three bypasses and for family as they wait.
Margie Williams had surgery yesterday in Baton Rouge and is scheduled to return home this morning. Keep her in your prayers.

Jadon’s Story: Steroid update
Day 2 of steriods and I’m already doing much better. I’m still having
seizures, they just aren’t as many or as intense. I woke up 1 time
last night and had about 30 spasms. We have noticed its not really
the amount of seizures that I have but the intensity of them. I can
have 60 not intense spasms and I do well. It’s when I have 60 intense
ones when I have more trouble. So anyway, so far so good. We pray that I will continue to keep getting better. I really want all the intense
ones to go away. Thanks for praying for me!!!! Mommy says she has her happy baby back that’s not getting attacked by seizures all day and
all night. She said not to worry, her and daddy will continue to do
everything possible to get these seizures to leave me alone.
Mr. Harley Kliesch is home and doing better now that his medication has been adjusted. Continue to pray for Mr. Harley and “Miss” Mary Nell.
Yesterday evening at about 6:30, tornadoes touched down in the curve on the south side of Roseland and in Velma. I have heard/read reports of damages, but no injuries. Thank God for watching over all of us last night.
We have some good news to share. Boyd, Jennie, Mallory, Miles, Madison, and Mason Hatchel will be coming to the seminary for their stateside assignment after serving another three and a half year term. They will arrive July 16th rather than August 1st! Yeah!

Please pray today for Prime Minister Aires Bonifacio Ali of Mozambique (southern Africa).
G CITY, CHINA. Please pray for the Easter season in G City. Easter is not a holiday that is celebrated in this city. Many people do not know the true meaning of this holiday. Believers in G City will hold several Easter parties; pray that many people will attend. Pray that throughout the month of April, believers in G City will be able to share the Easter story with many people. Ask that many people will give their lives to God as they hear and believe the Easter story.
SOUTH ASIAN UNENGAGED PEOPLES. This month, please pray for a group of four young men in a Kurmi village near Allahabad in northern India. The Kurmi are an unreached people group. These four young men are beginning to hold meetings in their village. Pray for boldness on their part, seekers and “people of peace” (Luke 10:6) who will participate, and the ability to stand in the face of feared opposition. Just wanted to let everyone know that Chloe is doing very well so far. The surgeon says he is going to wake her up tomorrow and try to take her off the vent. This will be a major step for her, but I think she will do well. Thanks again for all the prayers coming our way!!
Mr. Joe Williams is home again. Keep him and “Miss” Othell in your prayers.
Mr. J.D. Smith is still experiencing some medical problems. So far, he has not got a diagnosis or solution that has made him well. Keep praying.
Ora Lee Wilson will begin physical therapy on her arm that was dislocated. Pray for her as she goes through this progress.

Chloe had her surgery yesterday and it went pretty well. She is in the CICU right now and will probably remain there for several weeks. I wanted to say THANK YOU for all the prayers, well wishes, visits, calls, etc… that we have received from our friends and family. She still has a long way to go, so keep us in your prayers. THE SLIDE RULE
A father took his two sons, ages seven and five to the playground. The seven-year-old was very proud as he was able to read the sign with all the rules to his brother. “Do not jump on the merry-go-round when in motion.” “Go down the slide while sitting only.” “Only one child on a swing at a time.” There were about twenty rules and the boys promised to obey them all, if the father would trust them and let them play without standing by. They said that they were too old to be watched and their friends would tease them calling them babies if Dad stayed. He made them promise to be good and obey the rules, and left them.
When it was time to get the children, the father decided to watch them at a distance for a while to see how reliable they were in following his instructions. He found that they obeyed most of the printed instructions. That is, all but one. They would get on the tall semicircular slide and go down head first or backward. Angrily, he picked up the children and took them over to the posted regulations and made his seven-year-old read them aloud again. Then he asked them what they had to say for themselves. The five-year-old answered immediately:
“Don’t be silly Dad, you’re the one who told us there’s no use for a slide rule anymore.”
Some of you younger readers will be asking, “What’s a slide rule?” I’m old enough to admit that I often used one in college rather than a calculator. Of course, I also typed my term papers on a portable typewriter, and was thrilled when “Pong” was invented! (you younger readers may need to talk to your parents to fully understand today’s message). Every year, more and more items become obsolete (or close to it). The current list of vanishing items includes dial-up Internet, photographs that you get developed, maps, landline phones, VCRs, and phone books.
Things have changed. There isn’t much use for a slide rule anymore, any more than we need an abacus to count. Some things don’t change, though. Numbers are the same, whether they are calculated on a slide rule or a scientific calculator.
It’s much the same way in religion. Our methods of teaching people may change. We may use television or radio (or e-mail!), methods that were unheard of 100 years ago. But the message cannot change. It must be God’s Word.
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because ‘All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the LORD endures forever.’ ” (I Peter 1:22-25a)

Jadon’s Story: Here we go again!
To all of my prayer warriors. I really need your prayers. My doctor is
putting me on prednisolone steriod again. I will be on this steriod
for 2 months. Please pray that this will work this time. I really need
a break. My seizures are keeping me up throughout the night and I’m
having them throughout the day. So please pray that these seizures
will go away. We know that our God can heal me and we know that
starting these steriods are in his plan. Now we have to patiently
wait while we follow his plan for my life. Please take the time to say
the prayer below.
Dear God,
We know that you have a plan for Jadon. We pray that the steriods
will give him relief. We pray that he will have few side effects and
that he will not get too agitated. Lord we know that you are healer
and we pray for healing for sweet Jadon. Amen

and we would hang everything on the clothesline where they would dry in the hot desert air. I lived in El Paso, TX, so who needed a clothes dryer? When I got bigger, mom let me iron. There is a group of people in India known as the Dhobi (DOUGH-bee) and the name means “washerman.” For centuries, the Dhobi people have served others by washing and ironing their clothes. They pass down their commitment for this honorable work to their children. An iron is usually part of a Dhobi girl’s dowry when she gets married to a Dhobi man. Along with their occupation in life, Hinduism is also passed down to each generation. Each family makes sure to teach their children the proper way to worship the various family gods, such as Shiva, Ganesh, etc. In the Bible, we learn about Paul who was a tentmaker, Peter a fisherman, Dorcas a weaver, and Jesus a carpenter. In those days, they would have learned their skills from their parents or maybe they were apprenticed at a young age in a family business. Would you pray that the Dhobi will worship Jesus who can once and for all eternity make them clean and spotless? |

Callie Cole
Just a note to update you on Callie’s first day of school. (She will only go once or twice a week from 9 till 1.) Callie had a good time. She was a little disappointed because she did not get to visit with friends. I explained that she will be able to go to break and visit some once the weather gets warm and stays warm. She is so cold natured that I just don’t chance unnecessary exposure.
She attended a class that she has never been exposed to so maybe we can determine her short term and long term memory deficits. Can she store new information? We are not sure. The school work she has been doing and doing well is probably a review of things she has studied. Time will tell.
Please continue to lift her up in prayer as her journey takes another turn. And remember to thank Him for the recovery that has taken place.
We are still believing there will be a full recovery but realize it is only in His time.
