Doug Toney

Wednesday May 20, 2015

Doug stayed awake a little more today. He sat in a cardio chair about two hours. He tries to talk, but really needs to let his vocal cords heal. He was on the vent 12 days before it was removed. He was reintubated for gall bladder surgery, but thankfully just for a few hours. He still has a very long healing time ahead. Please continue to pray for Doug….

Joe Easley

Joe is back at home.  He has great friends who help him with his needs.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Please continue to pray for Sylvester Humphry.  He is in St. Tammany and very sick.  I know your prayers will be greatly appreciated.  As you are praying for him, thank God for his vision and dedication to the Hope Center.  Without him, Hope Center would not exist.  Pray for those who are “stepping up” to try to fill the shoes of Sylvester and Shirley while they are not able to be there.

I was blessed to see Mr. James W. Frazier and Miss Shira Easley yesterday.  They have come a long way since their surgeries.  Even though they have not been released by their doctors yet, they both are in God’s house and very thankful to be there.

Someone special to pray for today – Mrs. Hazel Smith

She tends to be rather quiet, but if you spend some time with her, you’ll soon see how important God has been and continues to be in her life.  Her faith is strong!  She is such a blessing to know.

Mr. James Frazier was in attendance in church both Sunday morning and Sunday evening.  When a person who attends church as regularly as he does misses for five weeks due to a health issue, they feel so blessed to be back in God’s house.  Thank you for praying for him.

I’ve been faithful to keep up with some of my “blessings” daily this year.  Yesterday, among other blessings of the day, I was blessed to see pictures of graduates being recognized in several area churches and baptisms in several area churches.  The blessings in the lives of others blessed me as I thought of the opportunities open to those who have completed school and the greater opportunities open to those who have accepted Christ as their personal Savior.

Women’s Ministry – Opportunities for the Week

  • Operation Christmas Child – purchase some items for the “shoeboxes” we will be sending to children around the world in October.  The greatest value of the boxes is not the various items that go into the box, but the opportunities the children will have to learn about Jesus.   Make some purchases this week.  It doesn’t involve large amounts of money, just large amounts of love and and a desire to share Jesus with others.  Don’t miss this opportunity to help!
  • Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions – It’s never too late to give to missions!  Never forget that people in our own country, and Canada, need to make that great decision for themselves.  That’s what this offering funds.
  • Women of the Bible: Leah.  If you didn’t get a study guide, see Lauree or me for one.  We will meet Friday morning at 10:00 in the fellowship hall.

Opportunities of the Week

  • Tuesday – Learn about nursing homes, home health, hospice, physical therapy, etc. at New Zion Baptist Church as Toni Holland Fitzgerald shares with us.  She has had so many experiences in working in these areas that she has a wealth of knowledge to share.  If you are interested, she will be sharing at 10:30 in the fellowship hall.  You do not have to be a member at NZBC to attend.
  • ThursdayThird Thursday at the Cabin – David and I invite you to come to our cabin to enjoy sweet Christian fellowship, a bountiful, delicious meal, and a time of music topped off with a devotional and prayer.  We begin at 6:30.  Please ask me if you need directions.
  • Saturday – Help to honor Mrs. Kathryn Kuss as she celebrates her 90th birthday at the fellowship hall of FBC, Kentwood from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.  She requests no gifts.  Everyone is invited.  I was requested to invite you because no invitations were mailed to people in Kentwood .
  • Sunday – the Lord’s Day!

Try some new opportunities and be blessed!

Sunday Afternoon

Mrs. Susie Wales (94) is hospitalized in OLOL Heart Hospital.  She was fine yesterday morning, but developed a problem in the late evening.  She was first taken to Greensburg and then on to Baton Rouge.  She is retaining some fluid and undergoing tests to identify the problem.  Her family would appreciate your prayers for her as they await more information.

She is in room 8012.  The phone number to her room is 225-374-8012.

Sunday

When I woke up early this morning, I unplugged my computer because of the lightning.  I think it has slacked up a little, so here is a brief post.
