Georgia Barnette Mission Offering for Louisiana

The Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering plays an important role in mission camps and other mission events for children and teens.

  • In summer 2014, Girls’ Mission Camp registered 228 campers, sponsors and staff. 11 girls made professions of faith and one responded to God’s call for mission service. Close to 280 will participate in 2015 Girls’ Mission Camps.
  • RA Camp welcomed 90 campers, sponsors and staff at Tall Timbers in 2015.
  • Tall Timbers also hosts the RA Congress in March of each year; this year over 300 boys and their leaders filled the campgrounds.
  • During Voyage, a mission weekend for teens, 92 students and sponsors served in six church plants and ministry sites in New Orleans.

Let’s show the world we care about both physical and spiritual needs.

Sunday

That if you confess with your mouth,

“Jesus is Lord,”

and believe in your heart

that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved.

For it is with your heart

that you believe and are justified,

and it is with your mouth

that you confess and are saved.

FBC, Greensburg is celebrating homecoming today!  I forgot how many years!

East Fork Baptist Church had a great revival last week.

New Zion Baptist Church is beginning revival this morning.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pine Grove, was preparing for a back-to-school bash when I passed yesterday.

Judson Baptist Church in Walker hosted a state WMU day yesterday.  The ladies were very surprised and blessed by the number of men there to help serve and make our day flow nicely.  Thanks to the state leaders, led by Janie Wise, in planning and carrying out a wonderful training session.  The missionary speaker certainly was one of the highlights of the day.  I wish I could hear him again today.  (I got to speak with Mrs. McCon, formerly of Line Creek Baptist Church and eat lunch with ladies from Bethel, Amite, Minden, Old Zion Hill, and Judson Baptist.)

I get to teach Sunday School at 9:15 at FBC, Kentwood.  I am so blessed.

Friday

And when you stand praying,

if you hold anything against anyone,

forgive him,

so that your Father in heaven

may forgive you your sins. “

~Mark 11:25~

Mrs. Hollis Ann Hayden was moved into the rehab section  of Hood Memorial Hospial yesterday afternoon.  Please continue to pray for her.

Carol New’s sister, Flo, will have surgery about noon today.

David Ramsey of Hammond

David is from Hammond.  I met him almost fifty years ago and received a call from him a few months ago.  Let’s pray for David and his family.  (I think the date should be July 31.)

On Friday July 31st while we were on a ferry from Germany to Denmark to visit family in Sweden, my father Richard David Ramsey suffered a severe trauma to his head after the chair he sat on gave way making him fall backwards

This trauma caused a big hemorrhage in his brain which has caused brain damage.

He has had brain surgery to remove some of the blood in his brain to help with the pressure that was being caused by the bleeding. The surgery was successful, but the right side of his body has been paralyzed and he is unable to speak.

He has been in the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen Denmark ( where the surgery was performed) but will be transferred tomorrow morning to a different hospital in Roskilde where they are equipped to continue with rehabilitation. It will be a while before he is able to fly back to his home in Louisiana. Until then we are hoping to eventually be able to transfer him to a hospital in Sweden where we have family that will be able to provide a temporary home and support. However, his insurance company refuses to pay for the transfer.

In the meantime, we have been staying in a hotel near the hospital ….

His fight is long from being over, but we pray and have faith that with the needed treatment and rehab he is able to recover and go back to being the same person he was before this terrible tragedy.

We had a great group of ladies and lots of food for out meeting at Hillsdale this morning.  I am very biased, but must not fail to say the speaker was one of the best we had heard.  If you missed today, I surely hope you will join us next time.

Macy Gueldner, Mary Catherine Gueldner. & Martha P. Drago

Macy’s counts are very low, during a week where they should’ve doubled. I guess the increase in chemo finally caught up to her. So, her chemo this week is on hold. They’ll check again next week, and hopefully she can get back on track. She’s in good spirits; she just doesn’t have much immunity. So we’re hoping to stay germ free.As for me (Mary Catherine, Macy’s mom), my doctor ordered an MRI of my entire spine. He’s afraid I have ruptured a disc underneath my fusion. He said, “You are a tiny person, and Macy is not so tiny.” We’re both hoping that my lower back problem is just temporary. We’ll see…I have some good news: my mother in law (Martha) has only 4 radiation treatments before the end of her cancer journey 🙂
