Peace I leave with you;

my peace I give you.

I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled

and do not be afraid.

Thankfulness: Day 4

Today, I’m thankful for prayer.  It is an area of my life helps me draw closer to God and get through the difficulties, both large and small, of life.

Anna Lee

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,

since as members of one body

you were called to peace.

And be thankful.

~Colossians 3:15~

(Peace and thankfulness – May we all have an extra large helping of these today!)

Update on Connor Corkern

My dear friends, if everything goes smoothly with Connor tonight (which we expect it will) he will have his ventilator extubated in the morning.

We need your prayers…
•Please pray with Coye and I that this time around Connor’s lungs will be ready and strong.
•Please pray that his secretions will be thin enough for him to cough up.
•Please pray that his body can maintain the energy it requires to breathe easily when awake and sleeping.
•Please pray that God’s grace surrounds us as we watch and wait to see if Connor’s extubation will be successful.
•Please pray that if Connor’s extubation fails that we will be guided in the direction that God leads us to and have peace with whatever may come in order for Connor to breathe easier.
•Please pray for his doctors, nurses, and therapists that have taken exceptional care of him, and will continue to do so.

We know our Heavenly Father hears our prayers as he has shown us His mercy for the past 3 weeks over and over again.

Mrs. Flo Hatcher‘s new medication for nausea has worked for five days!  That has made a big difference for her, the family, and caregivers.

Please continue to pray for Mr. James Miller as he undergoes testing at a Covington hospital.

Mrs. Gloria Boone and her family wish for our continued prayers.

David Wickham – David’s obituary will be posted when it is available.  In the meantime, pray for the family.

Georgia Barnette Offering for Louisiana Missions

We have collected 77% of the goal that we set for out church.  Personally, I never would have been pleased with 77%.  I trust we will meet this goal now that the shoeboxes are filled and shipping collected.  Our church asks a lot, but the mission-minded people in our church have big hearts and a giving/sharing spirit.

On this day, Oct. 31, four years ago today, I had gamma knife brain surgery.    I am happy to report my tumor continues to shrink!  I was able to enjoy Fall Fest Activities at NOBTS that very night with my daughter’s family.

Today, I have a long list of people who need our prayers.

  • Eleanor Morris has joined the list of those who have taken a fall.  It always takes longer to recover than to fall and get hurt.  Add her to your prayer list.
  • Mrs. Velma Anthony is finally doing better after her fall.  Thank God for her improvement.
  • Betty Simpson is having back issues.  Add her to your prayer list.
  • Ora Lee Wilson’s sister, Juanita Booty, can’t seem to get well.  Now, she has pneumonia.  Keep her on your prayer list.
  • Mrs. Gloria Boone also needs to be on your prayer lists.  As you pray for her, please pray for her family.
  • Mr. James Miller fell and is hospitalized again.  This time he is in Covington.
  • Mrs. Glenda McKean is slowly improving after breaks in both ankles.  She may be able to leave Hood Memorial the first of next week.  Pray for her as she begins walking again.
  • Mrs. Anne Hurst is still hospitalized in Greensburg.  She enjoys company.
  • Rufus Williams continues to do well following his recent gall bladder surgery.  Keep him on your prayer list for a while.  Pray for Margie too!

David Wickham (From Cissy, his wife)

Update on David
Day 18 in ICU: they removed the bladder catheter, stomach catheter and staples yesterday.  He sat up in the chair a total of 12 hours.  He sat 8 hours, then took a break and then sat up again for four hours.  He does have increased pain from some sutures that became infected.  They will be using the wound vac today. He is still retaining a lot of fluid which prevents him from bring weaned from the oxygen to a level that will allow him to
Leave ICU.  He is at the point where he needs to push himself to be more mobile and do the exercises past his comfort level.  He had his 1st meal  today- vegetable broth, Apple juice and orange jello.  All of his favorites 😊. I was proud of him – he managed to force it down.  Thank you for your continued support to us. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Anne Hurst is in room 10 at the St. Helena Hospital.  I know she would love to hear from/see you.  Keep her in your prayers.

Mansell Stinson went back for a check-up yesterday.  James Rimes, who took him, said that for the first time, Mansell seems to be “pain-free”!  Let’s pray he can stay that way.

Kenny Ray Gill went in for double knee replacement, but did not have surgery because he had some sort of an insect bite.  So, surgery will be rescheduled for a later time.

Lisa Pitri received a wonderful report and will not need additional treatments, only periodic check-ups for now.

Connor Corkern is still at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, but is improving.  If he continues to do well, he will be coming back to Kentwood soon.

Continue to pray for Mrs. Hazel Smith.  She is at home.

Operation Christmas Child (Shoeboses)

Even though we have our boxes packed and waiting for the collection centers to open, let’s pray for other churches/schools/organizations that are still working on their shoeboxes.  Let’s also pray for the children who will receive each box and each member of the families where the boxes will find a home.  May many of the children and families meet Jesus through the shoebox!
