Mrs. Helen Robertson continues to have a slow pace recovering from her broken hip.  Say a special prayer for the long-time owner of Helen’s Flower Shop on Camille St. in Amite.

Thankfulness: Day 27

Today, I’m thankful for rainy days when I can work inside and accomplish things I have on my “To Do” list.  They often become cooking days.  My family never complains about that!  I’m also thankful for the sunny days God sends our way.  He is God and knows what we need.

Thankfulness: Day 26

Today, I’m thankful for music.  I don’t have as wide a range of music appreciation as some people, but I do really enjoy a variety of music.  I like music that conveys a story.  Hymns and gospel music are my favorites.  I’m not the best musician, but my fingers and toes can’t help but tap out the beat.   I appreciate music that sets the mood for a sermon.  Thank musicians for their time and dedication to a talent God blessed them with.

Randy Carl Cutrer
(August 11, 1964 – November 24, 2012)

A resident of Kentwood, he died at 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson. He was born August 11, 1964 in Kentwood and was 48 years of age. He was a hard working boilermaker after being a dairy farmer most of his life. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 24 years. He loved fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with the grandchildren and they loved their Grampy Randy. Visitation at Spring Creek Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until memorial services at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Services conducted by Dr. Danny Smith. He is survived by his wife, Allyce Bridges Cutrer, brother, David Cutrer and wife, Nola, sister, Pamela Smith and husband, Rusty, many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, close friends, and Randy and Allyce’s adopted family, Michelle Forrest and her children, Brock Forrest and wife, Heather and Brianne Forrest, The lights of his life, his adopted grandchildren, Brianne’s daughter, Abigayle Forrest and Brock’s sons, Jaxon and Madox Forrest. Preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Cutrer and Mae Kliesch Cutrer, brother, Michael Cutrer, and close friend, Keith Forrest. The missions time at church last night was a continuation of our Sunday School lesson.  Only God could make things like that happen.  Spend some time today praying for those who are sharing God’s word and for those who are still seeking to know Him.

Thankfulness: Day 24

Pray for missionaries, ministers, worship leaders, seminary professors, youth and children ministers, pastors to senior adults, etc. in churches around the world.  Thank God for their acceptance of God’s call on their lives.  Thank God for the impact they make on individuals, families, churches, communities, and the world through their self-less ministries.  Pray that as God continues to call individuals and families, men and women will say “Yes” to His calling.  Thank God for those who share their faith through books, radio and television ministries, seminary and online teaching, etc.  May God richly bless each of you as you bless others and impact the Kingdom!

Pray for travelers on their way home.  We will be saying special prayers for two vehicles traveling back to Georgia today.

Pray for families with members who are sick and for grieving families.

Gloria Miller Milton
(November 29, 1942 – November 22, 2012)

A resident of Amite, she died on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at her home. She was born November 29, 1942 in Independence and was 69 years of age. She is survived by her 5 sisters, Lorraine Singleton, Roseland, Peggy Trabona, Amite, Carol Cosgrove, Ponchatoula, Liz Davis, Amite and Sally Cannon, Amite; 2 brothers, Ken Miller, Amite and Todd Miller, Albany; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Rita Miller; sister, Patricia Easley; brother, Larry Miller. The family would like to thank Generations Hospice and staff for their excellent care. Baby Everett Smith is better and back home with his family.  Thank God for the care that he got that made him well quickly.

The last report I had last night was that Randy Cutrer was very ill.  Pray for the family as they face a new day.

Susan Rimes had another difficult night because of kidney stones.  Keep her and her family in your prayers.

Thankfulness: Day 23

I’m thankful for prayer warriors who mean so much to me and to others.  Prayer warriors don’t have any special connection to God, but they use their ability to talk with God more than some other people.  We can all be prayer warriors.  It doesn’t cost money, but it does cost some of our time.  It’s a fantastic investment though.  Be a prayer warrior!

 Thankfulness doesn’t have to end today!  I know I’ve got so much to be thankful for every day!

Jimmy Schwartz had to be taken back to North Oaks yesterday due to a fast heart rate.  Please continue to pray for him and for his family.

 

Pray for little Everett Smith, the young baby of Jason and Rebekah  Alford Davis Smith.  He has been admitted to the hospital with flu-like symptoms.

 

Thankfulness: Day 21:  I’m thankful for being able to give my time or doing work that brings happiness to someone.  Examples: making a treat with a granddaughter, cooking for family and/or friends, working with my flowers, preparing a Sunday School lesson or WMU presentation, folding clothes for my daughter-in-law, helping a grandson with a snack, visiting with my daddy and sharing meals, visiting older friends and sharing my baking skills, preparing large bowls of fruit salad with my family, doing math over the phone to help with homework, helping a neighbor’s grandson with test preparation, etc.  How can I call it work when it brings so much happiness?  I’m blessed!

Elsie Carter Johnson
(June 28, 1923 – November 20, 2012)

A resident of Pine Grove, she died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was born June 28, 1923 in Amite and was 89 years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Menette Andrews and her husband, Charlie, Walker; 3 sons, John Keith Johnson and wife, Linda Sue, Denham Springs, Bobby Johnson and wife, Cynthia, Rayne and Albert King and wife, Terrye, Hillsdale; brother, Charlie “Tony” Carter, Pine Grove; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carl Lathan Johnson; parents, Dudley and Ora Kemp Carter; sister, Willie Casanova; 5 brothers, Robert Whitener, Wilson Carter, Mervin Carter, Sidney Carter and Dudley “Shorty” “Do-Rite” Carter; 1 granddaughter, Toni Marie Johnson. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Pine Grove. Pray for Randy Cutrer of Spring Creek.  He had surgery last week and is at Ochsner.

I have these numbers of the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes that were collected locally last week.

Those numbers represent many children who will get a special blessing this year.
Pray for Debi Bales and her family as they adjust to their mother being at Landmark Nursing Home.
Thank God for the 7,000 youth from Baptist churches across the state that were able to attend Youth Evangelism Conference for the last few days.  May many lives be changed forever because of that experience.
Pray for Elizabeth Carol New as she prepares for knee surgery on December 3rd.
Pray for family members traveling to be with others for Thanksgiving.  I pray for safe traveling and wonderful visits as well as sufficient special foods to enjoy.

Thankfulness: Day 20
Today, I’m thankful for our vehicles.  They are not new or fancy, but dependable, which is the most important to me.  I’m also thankful for roads to ride on.  Many of them are not in the best shape, but they certainly could be much worse.   I’m also glad to see road construction periodically because that means the road will be better when they are finished.

Mrs. Patsy Benefield is doing well.  Pray for her continued improvement.

Paul Boudreaux surprised his family with some walking.  Thank God for this progress.

Mr. Bobby Lawson was at church yesterday.  Pray for him as he gets treatment in the coming days.

Thankfulness: Day 19

I am thankful for running, hot and cold water and electricity in all the homes I have ever lived in.  Our water is good and very dependable.  The electricity blinks periodically, but usually comes right back on.  I know there are many people who have neither water nor electricity.  I have been blessed with both all my life.  I like it that way!  I’m thankful!

Many people will have some holidays this week.  Be sure you take time to think of your blessing before you indulge in the Thanksgiving meal.
