who gives to all liberally and without reproach,

and it will be given to him.”

Obituary for Millicent “Millie” Bradley

Millie Bradley received her angel wings on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at her residence in Albany, at the tender age of 5. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and an Albany Lower Elementary Preschool student. Millie was a loving child, who adored life and found great fulfillment in making others happy. She enjoyed listening to music, playing with her friends and siblings, and strolling outdoors. Although Millie’s life was short, her family made many wonderful memories they will cherish forever, including a big celebration of her life party this past summer, snuggling on the couch, taking a cruise to Mexico, visiting the pumpkin patch, and receiving school awards.

Millie leaves behind her beloved parents, William and Sonja Bradley; sisters, Christian Bankston and Adeline Bradley; brothers, William Bradley and Darrell Castella Jr. She is also survived by her grandparents, Jim Taylor, Lola Taylor, Sue Bradley, Betty Taylor and Alan Cooper.
Millie’s grandfather, Peter P. Bradley Sr., and uncle, Peter P. Bradley Jr. preceded her in death.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond, on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Jamin, will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany and interment will take place in St. Margaret Catholic Church Cemetery.

Hymn of the Day – “Jesus Paid it All”

http://cyberhymnal.org/htm/j/p/jpaidall.htm

I chose this hymn for two reasons:

    • In honor of the ministry of Rev. Billy Graham at the time of his 95th birthday and his television programs the last couple days.
    • In hopes that hearts will be receptive to the messages at the revival at FBC, Kentwood Sunday through Wednesday.

Billy Graham “Hope for America” will be shown Sunday evening at 7:00 on FOX in case you have not seen it yet.

Thankfulness – Day 9

Today, I would like to thank God for technology.  Remember, I grew up in the age of:

    • slide rulers, not calculators
    • manual typewriters, not computers
    • ditto paper, not laser printers
    • snail mail, not e-mail
    • pen and paper, not blogs
    • etc.

I’m thankful for these, and other, technological improvements that have allowed God’s word to be shared much more effectively.

I covet you prayers today as I speak at a luncheon in celebration of  “125 Years of WMU”.   Pray I will be able to inform and encourage the ladies.  May God use me as His messenger.

Thankfulness – Day 8

“My Team”  reminds me of all those who have helped me accomplish things I never could have accomplished on my own and the enjoyment of working with others.  I give my parents a lot of credit for teaching me about working together.  Church friends have always stepped in to help get any task done.  The same for some of my co-workers through my teaching years.  More hands  make for merry hearts!  Join a team and enjoy getting more accomplished than would have been accomplished working individually!

Get some “work” accomplished today, but do so with a buddy/friend/helper!  You’ll enjoy it better and probably get more done.

Thursday

 “For the Lord does not see as man sees;

for man looks at the outward appearance,

but the Lord looks at the heart.”

~I Samuel 16:7~

Baby Graham continues to improve.  He saw his regular pediatrician yesterday.  The doctor found him a pound lighter than the last visit.  Other that that, he was fine!  Join the family in thanking God for the miracle He performed in this young life.

Little Millie has had a difficult week.  Her body systems seemed to be shutting down, but last night they had new hope for her young life.

Jadon Pailet will be having his adenoids removed Tuesday.  This should be much easier than some of the surgeries he has already experienced, but the family still requests your prayers.

Both Elaine Stewart and Miranda Foster’s mother are having the first side-effects of chemotherapy.  Pray they can endure the side-effects so treatment can continue.

Rev. Billy Graham is 95 today.  He body is weak, but his brain is sharp.  Join him tonight or in the next couple of days for his televised message to all the world.  I think we won’t be disappointed.  Thank God for this man who has given and given his whole life in order to bring the lost to Jesus.

Thankfulness – Day 7

I’m thankful for helpful people who come into my life in many ways.  There are many instances when people who know me have been helpful.  For that, I am appreciative. When people who don’t know me are very helpful, I am even more appreciative.  God bless them for going out of their way to help me.  May I, in turn, always take my opportunities to help others.

Thankfulness – Day 6

Today, I’m thankful for surprises.  My favorite surprises are not the ones that come wrapped in pretty paper with a bow.  It’s people!  I love to hear from relatives, especially my children and grandchildren.  I like seeing someone I haven’t seen in a while.  I like to get an update on them and their family.  These surprises happen as I shop, view my email, get a request for a friend on Facebook, attend church events in various places, and many other ways.  These little unplanned surprises “make my day”.   I thank God for these surprises!

I trust you are thinking about being thankful too.  It does a heart good.

Tuesday Afternoon

November 1st – I missed the two-year anniversary of my brain surgery!  I guess that means I have moved on.  When I look in the mirror, the tiny scar over my left eye seems to be fading.  Fading scar and fading memory!  Forever thankful!

The WMU meeting for the World Day of Prayer was a very good meeting.  We were told the testimonies of two ladies in Europe and prayed for ladies around the world as they help to share the word.

Mrs. Miranda Foster’s mom is doing okay as treatment begins.  Pray for her and for her family as they help care for her as she deals with leukemia.  She’s being treated through MD Anderson in Houston.

Susie Eads’ mother was diagnosed with a heart problem, but after lots of testing, the doctors have determined the original test was inaccurate.

Jadon Pailet (written by his mother)

Detroit here we come. Our Detroit trip has been moved up to January. Dr.C says it’s time for an EEG since Jadon has been off medicine for almost a year. He also wants us to see the pediatric hand surgeon when there. This doctor will let us know if Jadon will need surgery on his hand. I should get dates later this week. Please begin praying for Jadon!!

Thankfulness – Day 5

I’m thankful God doesn’t give us the same weather each day, not even the beautiful fall days we have had lately.  We appreciate the beautiful days so much because He gives us other days that are not so beautiful.  I think “variety” in weather, food, friends we see, places, etc. is a plan to help us develop appreciation.  I think we are sometimes quicker to show our appreciation to people than God, but it should be the other way around.

Monday

Note:  I hope you noticed and like the latest changes to the site.  They are there because some of you asked for them.  Thanks to those of you who have told how much you like the site’s improvements.  Thanks to Jason for all his work.  If all this was up to me, it wouldn’t happen at all!

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,

but … against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

~Ephesians 6:12, NASB~

Jeff Birch is undergoing tests in the hospital.  Pray that his problem is identified quickly so treatment can begin.

Hubert “Brother”, “Bear” Yarborough is having surgery today.  Pray for the medical staff working with him, Brother, and his many family members and friends.

Pray for the Hossier family as they are experiencing come difficult days while clinging to their strong faith in God.  It’s great when faith is greater than the difficulties we face here on earth.

Betty Taylor’s uncle, JA Ziegler, passed away.  The funeral will be at 11:00 this morning.  Please pray for the family.

Thankfulness – “The Little Things”

It’s the little things in life that touch my heart: an young boy holding a door open for me, a friend saying words of appreciation through an e-mail, David handing me the first blueberries he picked from his bushes, someone asking about my children who do not live in this area, seeing a former classmate at Mike’s, a hug,  or any one of many other little things that happen.  These are the riches I value so much in life and some of the things that seem to happen just when I need a reminder of love, God’s love and love of family and friends.

Sunday Addition

I trust you remembered to set your clock back an hour.  You will probably enjoy an extra hour of coffee, news, computer time, etc. because your body got you up at your regular schedule.

Penny Dees McDowell is better.  She thanks you for your prayers.  Penny will soon be moving to physical therapy to regain some strength.  Continue to pray for her and for her caregivers/family members.

Sunday

“Don’t hoard treasure down here

where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust

or – worse! – stolen by burglars.

Stockpile treasure in heaven,

where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars.

It’s obvious, isn’t it?

The place where your treasure is,

is the place you will most want to be,

and end up being.”

~Matthew 6:19-21, The Message~

Continue to pray for Beverly “Doodle” Watson as she fights her battle with cancer.

I read this morning that Mr. John Mabry passed away.  He grew up in Roseland, but I never knew him until he was my principal as I taught at Independence High.  He was a fine man and a great principal.  I also worked with his wife briefly at KHS.  She was a fine lady and faithfully took care of her husband during his lengthy illness.

Thankfulness – Day 3 – Helping Hands

Today, I’m thankful for all the helping hands that make my life go smoother.  Facing reality, I must admit I can not do everything that is sometimes needed in my life.  I’m so thankful for the helping hands that take care of me and my little world.  I pray I will be more aware of the ways I can help others and will take the time to do just that.  Lord, help me to thank others who help me in any way.

This is the Lord’s Day.  Be sure to honor His day!
