Freida Jones (Mrs. Tim Jones)

PRAYER REQUEST: I SAW MY DOCTOR TODAY. SHE DID NOT LIKE THE LOOKS OF THE MAMMOGRAM FILM AND MY FAMILY HISTORY; THEREFORE SHE DID THE BIOPSY TODAY. I WILL GET THE RESULTS WEDNESDAY. SHE WANTS ME TO HAVE THE GENE BLOOD TEST THIS WEEK, ALSO. THEN AN MRI AND A PET SCAN. THOSE TESTS WILL DETERMINE WHAT SURGERY I HAVE. NO MATTER WHAT THE RESULTS OF ALL MY TEST THE LUMP HAS TO BE REMOVED. SO SURGERY IS ON THE HORIZON. SHE SAID ALL MY FAMILY BOTH FEMALES AND MALES NEED TO HAVE THE TEST TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE GENE FOR CANCER. SO FOR ALL MY FAMILY THAT SEE THIS POST, PLEASE LET YOUR FAMILY KNOW. THANKFULLY MY NIECE, JUDY, WENT WITH ME TODAY, SINCE THE DOCTOR DID THE BIOPSY. SHE ALSO NEEDED TO HEAR THE INFO THE DOCTOR TOLD ME FOR HERSELF. I NEED YOUR PRAYERS FOR STRENGTH FOR THE DAYS, WEEKS, AND MONTHS AHEAD. I CAN’T MAKE IT WITHOUT GOD’S HELP. LOVE YOU ALL. GOD BLESS.

Flo Hatcher (Written by Julee)

Update on my mom Flo Hatcher tonight– she’s home and getting settled in. I’m having to beg her to eat which is stressing me out. But I guess that’s how she felt when I was in high school and I didn’t want to eat either because I was “fat.” And I hated when she hounded me to eat– so it’s a little payback for her!
My new worry: She is in pain — a new pain. Her left arm is hurting so bad that she can’t move it without tears in her eyes. She said it’s like a muscular pain. Please pray it’s not another tumor. That’s how all of this started back in June– she couldn’t move her other arm and it was a tumor in her shoulder. As I said good night and kissed her goodbye, I walked outside and the street light in front of the house went off. I took that to be a sign from my dad. He was telling me thank you for taking care of his love.

Georgia Barnette Mission Offering for Louisiana

The 2015 Week of Prayer for State Missions will introduce you to individuals around our state who are committed to “be something” for the kingdom. But they need help. They need the support you provide through the Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering.

This year’s Georgia Barnette goal is $1,800,000. As always, the funds raised through the offering will help missionaries around Louisiana share the gospel. It will let them be the kind voice sharing Jesus’ love to a broken soul or the helping hand serving food to a hungry family.

The Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home will be picking up the food area churches have collected today.  Thank you for participating/helping to feed these children.

Next Week

  • Tuesday – “Young” Ladies Birthday Party
  • Friday – Bible Study followed by preparing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child

If you can help, please come to the fellowship hall at 12:45.  We would appreciate all the help we can get as we get ready for our packing party.  Friday, we will be folding the flat boxes into the proper size and shape and applying labels.  Then, the boxes will be stored until the night of the packing party.

We will need a number of boxes to hold the shoeboxes.  The size we need is that of the boxes that hold packs of paper towels or bathroom tissue (larger than copy paper boxes and smaller than refrigerator boxes).

Thank-you!

Ten ladies helped sort and inventory the items turning in for Operation Christmas Child yesterday.  We got the job done and are so please to know the items we will need to focus on getting in the next few weeks.  I’ll have that list for you real soon.

Yesterday’s devotional about 2 A.M. friends fit perfectly into the Bible study lesson yesterday!  I love the way God’s timing is always right.

Update on Ken (Written by Ginger Simmons)

Many have ask
Not much has been posted because right now it’s baby steps to get his strength back. Ken has been through so much in such a short time. He can be very impatience (like most men) and very stubborn (duh)!! These are actually good signs. Biggest thing he wants to go home and that is what they are trying to get him ready for. Please continue to pray not only for Ken and his healing and recovery but for his caregivers. I’m speaking from experience thats not an easy job even if it’s your loved ones. There were times I wanted to take a pillow to Wendell’s doped up head!!
Thx again for all the love and support yall have shown Ken and especially your continued prayers.

Johnnie “Lil Man” Santangello ( Shared by his sister)

Lil Man’s neuro-oncologist from Arizona located a former resident of Barrow’s, who is now a neurosurgeon in New Orleans, to adjust his shunts tomorrow morning. We are praying that the adjustment will improve his symptoms. Thank you all for the post helping us locate a surgeon. Our family greatly appreciated all the help and prayers.
I have to share with you all,
I spent today with him, cooked some of his favorite foods and I must say he is the funniest person I know. It made my heart full to hear him laugh and joke with us. I never hear this kid complain or pout even after all he has been through. I am so humbled to be his sister.

Flo Hatcher (Shared by daughter, Julee)

Today’s update on my mom: she’s being released from the hospital tomorrow! Going home!! Whoo hoo!!
Yesterday she told me “Dont make me eat chicken– YUCK” and today she asked “where can we get some fried chicken?” I’m a little confused now, but she ate that chicken and mashed potatoes like she hadn’t eaten in months!! She’s going to have a sweet lady from a home health agency helping her a few days a week– pray for her!!!

Third Thursday

Our group meeting was  very good last night.  We didn’t have any first time people, but we did have people from a number of churches ( Kentwood, Spring Creek, Line Creek, Osyka, New Zion, Roseland, and Greensburg.  I’m sharing this to say that the love for God and others is the factor that unites us.  What a blessing that is!  The music was provided by Mr. Halon Toney, Kim Chadwick, and Bubba Roberts.  If you would like to come some time, just come at 6:30 P.M. on the third Thursday of any month.

Enlarge your 2 A.M. group!  Our love for God should make the group that we respond to limitless.

9-11

Let’s pray for our country and our world today.  I truly believe the world would be safer, happier, and more blessed if more people knew Jesus.  It’s our job/mission to pass on what we know so that others may know Him and through Him know peace and love.

Flo Hatcher

My mom went to oncologist today and they have admitted her to the hospital to give her IV fluids and hopefully get her feeling better. Until she’s better chemo and radiation have been postponed. We were told no need to panic, she’s stable but just needs a boost. Hopefully just 24 hours. Thanks for prayers.                                                         ~Julee Hatcher~

Callie Cole

Calli’s mom posted yesterday.  They live in Brookhaven.  Debi Crawford shared Calli’s name shortly after the accident.  I have shared her caringbridge posts here,

6 years ago today, Thursday Sept 10. she wasn’t drinking, she wasn’t texting, she wasn’t speeding….just a vehicle malfunction. The doctors said she wouldn’t make it, but she has come so far! It’s not easy being patient. I often wonder why God picked her and lets all the others walk away without a scratch. Only for them to get drunk and back behind the wheel…. or whatever the circumstance may be. What would she be doing today? Oh, how I miss her laughter!! All I know is, we serve the ultimate Healer, & one day, she will be herself again. Pray without ceasing. You only have one life, one shot… She dedicated herself to the Lord. What do you choose? Share her story. Save a life. Make disciples. “Don’t stop believing”

FBC, Covington

In our travels Wednesday, we stopped at Chick-Fil-A in Covington.  A lady walked over to our table and said “David and Anna Lee”.  It was Mrs. Helen Singleton’s daughter, Margie.  We enjoyed a few minutes of visiting.  She told us she was on the way home from Bible Study at FBC, Covington.  The pastor’s wife teaches the class which has about 300 in attendance each week.  I was sharing that with Jennie yesterday.  Surprise, surprise, surprise!  FBC, Covington has a mission team in Prague this week!  What a small world and tremendous outreach of one church!  The pastor is Rev. Waylon Bailey who has been there since 1985 and whose blogs I share periodically.

” By our house, there was lots of shooting at night and tanks and helicopters nearby. We didn’t have a place to hide so we just hid on the floor in my mom’s room by the bed. My mom would lay on the floor with us and read to us from the Bible and then we didn’t feel so scared because different stories in the Bible show how Jesus can protect us and if we are hurt He can heal us. But I kept wondering why everyone in the world didn’t care about us or what happened to us. When we got these gifts, I was so happy because I got many nice things. My mom said it showed that people in the world care about us and are thinking of us. And also Jesus cares about us all the time and wants us to be happy and feel safe wherever we are.”                                                                   – OCC shoebox recipient~
