The “Lucy” Bible Study will begin one week from today at 10:00 at FBC,  Kentwood.  You will not have any daily homework and do not have to be a member of FBC, Kentwood to attend.  There is no cost for this study.  Let me know if you are interested.

Mission Project – Shoes for children, men, and women are needed at FBC, Kentwood.  They will be given to Re-Store in Amite.  Today and tomorrow will be good days to clean out some closets and help someone at the same time.  There are collection baskets inside the main door and the office door.  Next month we will be collecting school uniforms.  By now everyone should know if they have some uniforms that have been outgrown and are taking up space.  This will help you and help someone else.

Camp Living Waters, near Loranger, is in need of the following items.  Some of you may want to help our area church camp.  You can donate the items or you can give money to purchase these items.

  • Twin size mattress protectors
  • Bedspreads, not comforters
  • Glass salt and pepper shakers
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Paper goods

We can all be a part of missions!  Let’s do our part.

Kathy Jo Thompson and her mother are flying to Maryland today so Kathy Jo can have another surgery.  Pray for her as she continues her battle.

There is a young man from our area who, with his wife, is teaching in Egypt.  Pray for them during this time of unrest.  Pray for their families here to have peace about the location of their loved ones.

FBC, Kentwood will switch from AWANA to Team Kid this year.  They will also switch back to Sundays for their meetings.  Stay tuned for more information.

Bible Study – Don’t forget the ladies’ Bible study which will begin on the last Friday morning of this month.  It is based on the main character and clips from the “Lucy” series.  I’ve been previewing some of the material.  I have found great depth to the lessons which will be presented.  All ladies are invited to  attend and learn with us.

Missions – Heath Rohner of Re-Store said his greatest need is for shoes.  We are collecting gently used shoes to give him for his ministry in Amite.  If you have some shoes to share, drop them in a basket at FBC, Kentwood on Sundays or during the office hours during the week.  Our collection project for him next month will be school uniforms.  In the months following that we will collect jackets and blankets.  What a blessing you will be to some people in our area!

Tomorrow morning (TODAY), during our worship service, we are going to have “the blessing of the backpacks.” Actually, we are going to have a time of prayer for each kid that is starting school (or already has started school), while wearing/carrying his or her backpack/bookbag. We are also going to have a special time of prayer for all of our teachers. Don’t forget to bring your backpack/bookbag, if you’ve got one. See in the morning!

Greensburg Baptist Church (From JoEllen Carruth)

I would like to invite everyone to the First Baptist Church in Greensburg this Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. for Sunday School and then 10:30 a.m for our 147th celebration worship service. Over 147 years ago the church was begun on the present site and has been a part of the Greensburg community. We will have one of our former pastors, Dr. Arthur “Bo” Rice as our speaker and one of our former music directors, Chuck Brown will lead our music. We will have “dinner on the grounds” following the morning worship. Please come and be a part of this celebration in our community. Everyone is welcome.

Pray for us later this morning as  we make a delivery of items to Williams Blvd. Baptist Church.  The items will be delivered to the Hatchels at the end of this week.  Especially pray for the ministry of the nine people who will work among the Gypsies.  May their efforts be multiplied by our God who wants the Gypsies to know Him.

For those of you who missed this video of a portion of Daddy’s services, please remember we will all be “Going Home” one day thanks to God’s “Amazing Grace”.

Austin Rose (written by mom, Denise)

Austin is doing great. Even went to visit friends at Band Camp on Friday night ( that did my heart good!) and sat with his section at camp on saturday for a little while. Even wanted to go back Saturday night and went out with a group to Yogli Mogli after practice. Can I just say that I love the Harrison Marching Band!! You guys are great! We are family and I thank you all for your support.

I thank God for all the area Vacation Bible Schools held this summer.  I know they helped to mold young lives the right way.  Thanks for all who helped provide this opportunity for our kids.

The missions teams from FBC, Amite and Bethleham (Albany) returned home safely.  Thank for to this opportunity they had to work with Native Americans.

Please continue to pray for my daddy, who remains at North Oaks.

I talked with Susan Dufrene, grandmother of Lara and the person behind Lara’s Gowns for Smiles.  Lara broke her “bad” leg while at physical therapy this week.  Pray for Lara as her leg heals and as she fights cancer.

The Young Ladies’ Birthday Party will be tomorrow morning at Nyla’s.  If you are 60+ years of age, please join us for fellowship and lunch.
