will begin a new phase of his life Monday, April 28. God has greatly
blessed him by placing him in the job of – Criminal Investigator with
the State Police. He will be working at Troop A Headquarters. He is
ecstatic and feels greatly blessed as we do as well. Thanks to all who
prayed for this to come to fruition and to all of you – keep him in
your prayers as he starts this new employment. We are very thankful

Pine Ridge Monthly Breakfast Benefit

At 8:00 in the morning, people will gather at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church for their monthly benefit.  I don’t know who will benefit this month, but I do know it is always a worthy cause.  The breakfast buffet is wonderful, as is the company.

Peanut Butter for God’s Storehouse

During the next month, we will be doing a peanut butter drive so God’s Storehouse in Amite will not run out of the “perfect food” for good nutrition and long shelf life that doesn’t need refrigeration.  Any donation, a jar or peanut butter by the case, will be useful and appreciated.  You may deliver directly to God’s Storehouse in Amite or drop off at FBC,Kentwood.  If you choose to take it to the church, enter at the office entrance and leave you jar(s) on the right by the stairwell.  Any jars left there will have a label applied to them that has the Scripture, John 3:16, added.  We hope to help hearts as well as stomachs.

Annette is still hospitalized.  Her grape popsicle did not agree with her yesterday, so she is off all food, even ice, for a little longer.  She also has a kidney stone.  Pray for her as she works to get better.

Yesterday’s surgery helped already.  Johnnie has a big appetite.  His mother, Cheryl, has cooked his requested food regularly.  Keep praying for this family.

Inez Bridges Travis Tate
(January 14, 1929 – March 8, 2014)

A resident of Montpelier, she died at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 85 years. She was born January 14, 1929 in St. Helena Parish in a log cabin and was the 11th of 14 children. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and Southeastern Louisiana University and worked for the Office of Family Support for 25 years. She was a member of Montpelier Baptist Church where she served as a G.A. Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Church Clerk. She was a very active member and former officer for over thirty years for the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a founding member of the St. Helena Historical Society and was the “Unofficial” St. Helena Historian. She was the author of several books about St. Helena Parish and the Town of Montpelier including St. Helena Vets Remembered World War II and St. Helena Parish War Veterans. She is survived by 3 sons, Dennis Travis and wife, Linda, Cary Travis and wife, Gayle, and Brian Travis and wife, Molly; 5 grandchildren, Randy Travis, DeLynn Spinks, Brett Travis, Brandon Travis and Chanda Van Slyke; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Bonnie McMillan, Wilma Chand and Mattie Lambert. Preceded in death by husbands, Ray Travis and Edward Tate; parents, William Wilson Bridges and Cassie Bridges; siblings, J. S. Bridges, Will T. Bridges, C. J. Bridges, Mamie Allen, Elaine Pittman, Minnie Pittman, Rucee Bridges, Jack Bridges, Murphy Bridges and Charles Bridges. The family would like to give special thanks to Sandy Culbreath. On Sunday we went to Animal Kingdom. My dad got to feeling bad so we took him to the first aid station. He had a very high fever and the nurse thought he might be dehydrated. So she sent him by ambulance to the ER. After a very long night there they determined that he has a mild case of pneumonia. He has spent today getting more fluids, iv antibiotics, and breathing treatments. They are keeping him one more night just to be cautious. Please pray that he will feel better so that he can enjoy some of the time we have left here and pray for my mom. There were no actual rooms available at the hospital so they are in a holding room. The sleeping arrangements in this holding room is quite uncomfortable and this is her second night there. It’s highly unlikely but pray that they could get an actual room.

Sarah (granddaughter of Bonnie Russell Hardy)

 Sarah is Bonnie’s 20 year old granddaughter who was diagnosed with cancer when she was 10.  Bonnie shares about Sarah periodically.  This is her Facebook post from yesterday.  Bonnie shares updates through Facebook.

Update on Sarah, my granddaughter: Tomorrow (Tuesday)  Sarah goes into hospital for approximately a month. The first six days there she will be given extremely strong chemo, stronger than any she has had in the past 2 years. After that, they will re-introduce her stem cells which were harvested a week ago. She will stay in the hospital until her bone marrow regenerates to an acceptable level to be discharged from the hospital. Her attitude is great, but we are all nervous. Please continue to pray for her and send positive thoughts when you think of her. We have been moving to this point since October and finally it is here, truly for her Spring 2014 will be a new beginning.

Please remember my cousin’s wife, Anna, in your prayers. She is from the Ukraine and traveled back there to be with her Mom as she is recuperating from surgery. Her Mom is in a hospital in Crimea and Anna is there taking care of her. Anna is supposed to fly out of the airport in Crimea to come back to the U.S. on April 1 but it is concerning with all that is going on there. Right now she is ok but please pray that Russia will back off their threats and please pray for Anna and her Mom and the rest of her family and all the people of the Ukraine. And please remember my cousin, Robert, as he is here in the States and worried about her. Thank you all.

Shay was injured in a four-wheeler accident and has been in Children’s Hospital since then.  She has had numerous surgeries on her arm.  She will hopefully have a short break at home before facing more surgery.  Please add her to your prayers.

Mike Moore of West Monroe

Many of you remember Leroy Wilson who grew up in Kentwood and Roseland.  Mike is Leroy’s son-in-law and husband of Leroy’s Robin.

Please keep Mike in your prayers. We are at the ER. Mike had severe pressure in his chest, cold sweat, throwing up, and severe indigestion. We just did an EKG and waiting on results. They said that it could be anything from heart to severe bronchitis, to pneumonia. They are sure nice here at St Francis and spew are in good hands. His chest is hurting pretty bad, so they are running lots of tests.
