“The LORD is far from the wicked,

~Proverbs 15:29~

Today’s new is not so good.  Susie has developed pneumonia.  Please keep this family in your prayers.

With permission from Susie Eads, I’m sharing this as a special devotional thought.

I have a little story to tell you about forgiveness. Bear with me… I have a MacBook Pro laptop and on a Mac in the bottom right corner is a trash can. When you want to delete files you move them to the trash can and then periodically you empty the trash to delete those files. It’s different from the recycle bin because on the Mac when you click to empty the trash you get a message saying that the trash will be securely emptied and you cannot recover the files afterwards. When it finishes the process of emptying the files it makes a noise like a piece of paper crumpling up to let you know that it is finished. I am bad about forgetting to empty my trash so yesterday morning I clicked to empty it and it showed that I had 55,000 files to delete. Yikes! So I set it to empty and it was deleting files all day! Well I forgot about it and left it running. Fast forward to this morning and I am sitting next to my laptop while I have my quiet time. I was writing in my prayer journal and I had just written this sentence, “Lord, please forgive me for all the things I have done in the past that pierced your heart.” At that exact moment, I heard the sound from my laptop indicating that the trash had completed emptying!!! It was like the Lord told me that my sins are forgiven and securely deleted and I can’t recover them!!!! So if you are like me and have problems trusting God to forgive you or not forgiving yourself, remember that He empties the trash when we ask Him to and those sins no longer exist. Happy Valentines Day! Remember that God loves you more than you can imagine!                                                                               Susie Owens Eads, 2-14-14

Friday

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

~Corinthians 13:4-7~

“I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints
what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love,
and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge.”

Hymn of the Day – “Serve the Lord with Gladness”

Serve the Lord with gladness in our works and ways.
Come before His presence with our songs of praise.
Unto Him our Maker, we would pledge anew
Life’s supreme devotion to service true.

Serve the Lord with gladness, thankful all the while
For His tender mercies, for His loving smile.
Blessed truth enduring, always just the same.
We will serve with gladness and praise His name.

Serve the Lord with gladness, this shall be our theme.
As we walk together, in His love supreme.
Listening, ever listening for the still small voice.
His sweet Will so precious, will be our choice.

Serve Him with gladness, Enter His courts with song.
To our Creator, true praises belong.
Great is His mercy, wonderful is His name.
We gladly serve Him, His great love proclaim.

The ice is finally gone!  It was pretty one day, but the people in our area simple don’t know how to continue normal life with ice outside.  I’m thankful power outages in our area were not nearly as bad as expected.  I’m also thankful the power companies prepared for the worse while hoping for the best.  People got tired of being stuck inside, but otherwise seem to have made it through the week in good shape.

Hymn of the Day – “Jesus is the Sweetest Name I Know”

http://cyberhymnal.org/htm/j/i/jisnikno.htm

I’m so thankful I know the name of Jesus and all He represents to His children. The Sunday School lesson for tomorrow, based on Romans 1:16-25 is a good reminder that His name means eternity to us.  Let’s work hard to make sure every person gets to hear His name.

Romans 1:16-17

New International Version (NIV)

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Have a great Lord’s Day.  Don’t try to make it your day!
