“Words to Live BY”

http://odb.org/2014/05/12/words-to-live-by/

1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.

2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

3 Your eyes have seen what the Lord did because of Baal-peor: for all the men that followed Baal-peor, the Lord thy God hath destroyed them from among you.

4 But ye that did cleave unto the Lord your God are alive every one of you this day.

5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as theLord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.

6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

 9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;

Mother's Day

1The sayings of King Lemuel contain this message, which his mother taught him.
2O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows,
3do not waste your strength on women, on those who ruin kings.
4It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to guzzle wine.  Rulers should not crave alcohol.
5For if they drink, they may forget the law and not give justice to the oppressed.
6Alcohol is for the dying, and wine for those in bitter distress.
7Let them drink to forget their poverty and remember their troubles no more.
8Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.
9Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
A Wife of Noble Character
10Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?  She is more precious than rubies.
11Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life.
12She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
13She finds wool and flax and busily spins it.
14She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar.
15She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.
16She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17She is energetic and strong, a hard worker.
18She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night.
19Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber.
20She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.
21She has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes.
22She makes her own bedspreads.  She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.
23Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders.
24She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants.
25She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
26When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.
27She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.
28Her children stand and bless her.  Her husband praises her:
29“There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”
30Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the lord will be greatly praised.
31Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

We’ve been emphasizing the need for peanut butter for God’s Storehouse in Amite.  Yesterday, labels with the Scripture, John 3:16, were applied to the jars.  A wonderful problem was discovered.  We had more jars than labels.  I will see to it we soon have more labels, so keep on bringing peanut butter (to the area under the stairway at the office entrance to FBC,K).  Thanks for being so responsive to a need.  This emphasis will continue all month.

“God Will Take Care of You”

http://nethymnal.org/htm/g/w/gwiltake.htm

This has been my “go-to” song of assurance for about fifty years.  It means as much to me today as it always has.  Things never get too difficult for God.  He always wants the best for me!

Rain!  Rain was needed in our area.  God provided it.  Someone else sent the phone message at 1:00 A.M. that there is a flash flood watch in areas to the south of here.  A phone alert in the middle of the night will certainly get you up!  I’m thankful for the rain and the alert for people who may have needed to get up and become aware of their rain situation.  I’m also thankful not to live in a low area.  I pray  that people to the south of here will be aware of their situation and even if flooding happens they will know that “God Will Take Care of (Them) You”.

Third Thursday

Thursday, at 6:30 P.M., we will have our Third Thursday meeting at the cabin.  You are invited to join us.  Since the month of May started on a Thursday, the meeting comes earlier in the month than usual.  Don’t miss this opportunity to be blessed.

There is a man in our area who spends ALL DAY every Saturday studying his Bible so he will be prepared to teach a class on Sunday.  He wants to be prepared and do God’s will as he prepares to teach.  May we all have a greater willingness to learn what God has for us each week!

Have a great day of preparation for the Lord’s day!

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease;
where there are tongues, they will be stilled;
where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
