Please continue to pray for Carol Bennett Sealey.  She was released from the hospital Tuesday, but is back in the hospital shortly and has already had surgery.  Her sister, Barbara Gaines, says Carol needs our prayers.

 

 

 

Jewel Y. Cutrer has had A-fib for a while.  Nothing that has been tried to stop it has worked so far.  Pray for the doctors to find the answer and to get Jewel Kay to feeling better real soon.

 

 

 

Mr. “Cete” Dillon has been getting blood and iron lately.  He’s beginning to feel much better.  Pray for his continued improvement.

 

 

 

David had good appointments yesterday.  Jason and Becki were great help and good company.  We met and really liked a new doctor.  Three of the grandchildren are here and are enjoying being together.  We’re looking forward to having the other three here next month.

Kathy Wales did come home yesterday from the hospital.  She’s still in pain, but doing better.  The doctor gave her a 60% chance of a successful hip surgery, but the surgery went well.  She is thankful to be home.  Pray for her as she begins six weeks of being non weight bearing!

Robin Hayden is now in rehab at Hood Memorial.  Pray for his complete recovery.

 

 

 

Kathy Wales had hip repair surgery.  With the surgery done, she is dealing with pain now.  Next, later today, she will return home to six week of non-weight bearing healing time.  Pray for Chris and Kathy during this recovery time.

 

 

 

Arthur Gates

January 29, 1932 – May 24, 2019

A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite, LA. He was born January 29, 1932 in Spring Creek, LA and was 87 years of age. He was a dairy farmer for over 60 years and loved animals and gardening. He is survived by daughter, Susan Simpson and her husband, Wayne, grandchildren, Jason Simpson, Kerry Simpson and Amanda Durbin; great-grandchildren, Zac Simpson, Mason Simpson, nephew, Gene “Butch” White his wife, Maria, 2 nieces, Trudy Nelson and her husband, Mark, Candy Wallace and her husband, Rhett. Preceded in death by his wife, Helen Brooks Gates; parents, Harry and Genella Gates; sister, Willie Mae White. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2019, and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. This morning, at 8:00, Pine Ridge United Methodist will host their monthly breakfast as a fundraiser for a needy person, family, or cause.  They always serve a delicious buffet.

 

 

 

Tuesday, the “young” ladies will celebrate their monthly birthday party to honor those with May birthdays.  They will meet at the Burger Basket in Osyka at 11:00.  Join them there.

 

 

 

FBC, Kentwood will host VBS in one week.  Now is a good time to register your child.

Today, let’s pray for Josiah Huckaby and his family.  May God continue to bless them.

After flu/rsv season settled down, we decided to increase Josiah’s therapy appointments. We were going once a month for each therapy (physical, occupational, & speech). Now we go to physical therapy weekly & occupational/speech twice a month. This boy was already making strides but he just didn’t work much during our sessions. They would show him how to do something & he would refuse to work on it but as soon as we’d get home he’d start trying to do it himself. He’s definitely little MR. INDEPENDENT.

Now he works so hard during each session & it shows…after only 1 full month with our new schedule. He can sit in the tripod position for about 30 seconds now…if you can keep him from getting too tickled to hold that position. He can get on his hands & knees. He is really close to getting into a sitting position from his hands & knees. He does sort of an army crawl now…although he has started going backwards a little bit in the crawling position. He definitely favors doing things with his left hand vs right hand. It’s been a new struggle to get him to use both during therapy. He used to use his right hand until he would get frustrated & then swap to his left hand to complete whatever task he was doing. He has been identifying some items on flash cards by picking from 2 cards…which completely blew me away since we had not worked on that at all. He follows instruction during therapy when he’s not giggling & flirting. He is such a wiggle worm & his PT/OT have both mentioned how tired they are after his session…45 mins of trying to get a really strong wiggle worm to do what he doesn’t want to is completely exhausting! I know from experience!!! 😜 To God be the glory!!!

 

 

 

James Oliver Beddingfield

February 04, 1941 – May 23, 2019

James Oliver Beddingfield of Holden, La passed away at his home on May 23, 2019. Born in Moscow, Mississippi on February 4, 1941. Mr. Beddingfield was a truck driver by trade and was affectionately known as “Swamp Fox” by his truck driving friends. Although he battled a lengthy illness for many years, he was able to celebrate his 59th anniversary with the love of his life on May 21, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Hancock Beddingfield; daughter Janice Lynn and husband Robert Brabham; son James Randall “Randy” Beddingfield and wife Tammy; son Ronald Scott “Scotty” Beddingfield and wife Sarah; daughter Karen Louise and husband David King; daughter Melissa Ann “Missy” and husband Ray Thomas; son Bryan Edward “Bubby” Beddingfield and wife Tina; daughter Jennifer Helen “Jenny” and husband Herbert Woodard; one brother Hayward Beddingfield; 19 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and 2 great- granddaughters on the way. Preceded in death by his father Bapp Woodley Beddingfield; mother Margaret Helen Vick; 4 brothers and one sister. The family would like to thank Concerned Care Hospice: Tiffany Hebert, Rayna Morgan, Belinda Seals, Chaplain J, and Alice Sherard.   • Schools are ending for 2018-2019.  That means lots of energetic and fast moving boys and girls are riding bikes and playing ball each day.  Pay special attention when you drive!

I remember watching the Monday morning march with Buckskin Bill from Baton Rouge.  David and I now have a Monday morning ride to Baton Rouge.  Today, we meet my sister, Julie, in Ponchatoula so she can do some driving for us.  God had certainly been watching over us as we have traveled many medical miles in the last couple of years.  Thankfully, He has been with us all the way on this journey.

Yesterday, the local churches honored their graduates yesterday.  Let’s join together to pray for and encourage each one of them.  Their lives are all changing as they face the next steps of their future.  Let’s pray they welcome God to travel these new steps with them.

Good morning. Today we will be recognizing our graduating seniors. Remember to pray for these young women and men as they continue their journey through life.
Also, we will have a Deacon ordination service for Ernest (Joe) Cutrer at 6pm. Ordination council at 4:30 this afternoon in the sanctuary.
As our graduates start to move out on their own, a lesson that I hope that they learn early is this- The little things in life make a big difference. A little of God’s blessings will have an impact of “goodness” in their lives that they can feel and others can see. Unfortunately, the same is true of a little sin. A small seemingly unnoticeable sin entering their lives will have a negative impact that they can feel and others can see. In order to truly be blessed we have to keep all sin at a distance.
Join us at FBC Kentwood this morning for Sunday School at 9:15 followed by Worship at 10:30. Our scripture passage will be Numbers 6:22-27. We will go Facebook Live at 10:30 for those that can’t be here in person.

Please pray for a young teen, not from our area, who tried to take her life with pills.  Jaelyn is getting treatment for anxiety.  She’s a beautiful young lady living in a

 

 

 

Please pray for Dollie Frazier as she has eye surgery this morning.

 

 

 

Please . pray for my cousin, Scott Tolleson, who has HD.  He has had complications from recent falls and is hospitalized.

 

 

 

There will be a fundraiser at FBC, Greensburg for Ronnie Webb, Jr.  I was told he is out of state getting treatment.  The lunch will be Friday at noon.  Contact FBC, Greensburg for more information or to request tickets.

Thanks go the person who sent a box of beads for use in the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  Also, thanks to those of you who have contributed plastic Easter eggs for the shoeboxes.  Each and every item will go in shoeboxes in the fall.  We collect now and pack later.  Don’t forget to take the time to check out the items in the tote on the organ.  These items represent some of the items we will use this year.  You can also contribute by giving to the Operation Christmas Child Fund at church.  Marking you envelope “OCC” or “Shoeboxes” is all you have to do.

 

 

 

The weather has been beautiful.  We have enjoyed sitting on the patio.  Pray for everyone to be able to get out or to look out and enjoy God’s creation.
