Saturday

From the Sunday School lesson last week:

“But when he, the Spirit of truth,

comes, he will guide you into all the truth.

He will not speak on his own;

he will speak only what he hears,

and he will tell you what is yet to come.”

~John 16:13 NIV~

I’m thankful for rain.  We have had a good, soaking rain for two days now.  According to the weather report I read, we may get more rain in the next few days.

Jason and Ellen VandeVuss have made it back to the states.  I’m thankful for their willingness to go and tell.

Our Jason and Becki (and Mojo, the dog) ate on the way home.  I’m thankful for their brief visit and for Braden and Peyton getting to stay a few extra days.  I’m thankful for new memories!

Becki mom, Donna Robinson of Gonzales, visited the hospital for a while yesterday.  Thankfully, they only determined she was dehydrated.  She back home again.

Daddy, Grant Smith, enjoyed seeing my company yesterday.  I enjoyed him being here and getting to watch him eat fresh fish that the family caught yesterday morning.

Everyone’s life and experiences are different.  What part(s) of you little would are you thankful for this morning?

I thankful for Christian writes like Holley Garth who can express their thanks to God so well.

Thursday Evening

Sherri Alford Meadows said the fire in Colorado Springs is in view from their house, but they live east of the interstate and have not had to evacuate.  Continue to pray for all who have lost homes, those who have been evacuated and are unsure of their homes, and for those fighting the fire.

My aunt, Eva Smith in Alabama, is back in her nursing home, but it not fully well.  At 90, she is frail.  Please continue to pray for her and her children, Sandra and Donnie, as well as her grandchildren, Melissa and Kristin.

Momma’s first cousin, Leroy Wilkinson of Amite, fell recently and broke his hip.  He is in rehab in Hammond.  Pray he recovers and can return to his family.

Judy Hendry Pritchett was killed in a freak accident in her yard in Roseland this afternoon.  Pray for Rodney and Robbie as they face the coming days.

Saturday Midday

Bock Sims

The MRI showed that he has a broken his jaw on both sides and a broken collar bone. A family friend visited today and she said he was squeezing her hand when she spoke to him. Please continue to pray for him and his family and the drs and nurses whom are taking care of him. Thank you all!

First Baptist Church, Amite sent about 2 dozen people on a mission trip to the Indians in the Southwest.  Pray for the team, but especially pray for those to whom they will minister this week.

Pray for my niece, Kristin, as she makes final preparations for her mission trip to Haiti with the Mission Church.  Pray hearts are prepared and receptive to the Lord’s call on their lives.

Pray for the children who have just completed a week of VBS and those are are about to begin a week.  VBS is very effective in leading children to the Lord.

Saturday Evening

Correction:  David was mistaken about what he heard.  Let’s forgive him.  He usually gets things straight.

  • Mrs. Linda Graves is having hip replacement surgery Monday, but did not fall.
  • It was Kyle Collette’s mother, not mother-in-law, that fell.

Two prayer requests for short term mission trips

  • Beth Graham Lee (formerly of Kentwood) sent this request concerning a mission trip from FBC, Amite
    • Prayers Warriors: As our mission trip to New Mexico is fast approaching, I would like for you all to pray for the people there, that God has begun to/is preparing their hearts; for us going from Amite and Albany; family we are leaving behind; traveling mercies; the two others groups coming that week also. One is a band so we will have a concert one night and we will have a movie night and worship night. VBS and construction going on during the day. And, this is just off the top of my head. PLEASE ADD US TO YOUR PRAYER LIST!!! THNX
  • Kristin Eudy of Ponchatoula will be traveling to Haiti with a team from The Mission Church.
    • One month from today (written June 4th) my team and I leave for Haiti! We are expectant to see what the Lord will do while we are there and how he will use us for His work and glorification. Please be in prayer for our team and the Haitians we will be ministering to throughout the week. Come on, Jesus!! :))

Thursday Evening

Mrs. Angie Redmond (from Mary Criswell)

Had a nice visit with Angie. Betty Catherine (Hatcher)was with her and said they did not do surgery on Angie(as scheduled Wednesday and again on Thursday)! I really don’t know why unless it has to do with her age(90)! Betty was waiting to talk to the Dr. Prayers still needed!

From my sister, Julie

Aunt Eva (Smith) is back in the hospital (in Alabama), with atelectasis (partial or complete collapse of the lung) in addition to double pneumonia.  She is running a temp, but it went down from 103 last night to a little over 100 this morning.

Sunday

“But when you ask him,

be sure that your faith is in God alone.

Do not waver,

for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea

that is blown and tossed by the wind. . . .

Their loyalty is divided between God and the world,

and they are unstable in everything they do.”

~James 1:6, 8 NLT~

Friday Midday

From Jennie

After lots of delays and 47 hours of travel we have made it home!  Our apartment was clean.  There were groceries in the refrigerator and a friend is bringing dinner in a few minutes.  We are so blessed!

It’s 6:00 P.M. there now.  Thank you for the prayers, which were surely needed as the travel took so long and required a hotel room in London and rebooking of the flights in Dallas and in London.

Friday

“Now he who plants and he who waters are one,

and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

For we are God’s fellow workers.”

~1 Corinthians 3:8-9a~

No news from the Hatchels this morning.  I hope they rested well and are preparing for the last leg of their trip home.

Add Mr. Ernest “Cete” Dillon to your prayers.  His sinus procedure has not helped yet.

I know many of you are thanking God for the rain you received the last two days.  We didn’t get much here, but are thankful for what we received.  We’re also thankful we did not have any problem with the tornado that was sited at Greensburg.

Aunt Eva Smith (90) in northern Alabama

Aunt Eva is still in A-Fib.  Tomorrow morning they are going to a cardio version to try to shock her heart back into rhythm. If that is successful they may do a pacemaker. She looks good, ate lunch well, and has a positive outlook!  I’ll keep you posted.
