Raymond Cutrer’s post about Rafe

Hello everyone. Brandy and I wanted to thank you all for the many calls and messages regarding Rafe. He was admitted yesterday to Children’s Hospital with RSV. The very good news is that right now he is stable with good O2 sat’s and his fever has been under control today. The problems he is having stem from his existing condition. He is not strong enough to produce a good cough to clear his upper respiratory track. He is even further weakened by a seizure he had the day after Christmas and has not eaten since then. He is very sick and has been crying for two days straight. The plan is to keep him on iv fluids and nutrition until he “turns the corner” and begins to eat and drink again. The doctor seem to think this should happen within a day or two. We are moving in the right direction just slowly. On top of all this Brandy and I have RSV too! We need your prayers for Rafe and for us to maintain our strength. especially Brandys right ear which is full of fluid and won’t drain. To be honest we are exhausted in every way but we know and live for a God that is bigger than any problem we may face. We trust him completely and ask that you all pray for his will to be done. We are very thankful for all of our family and friends!

The Lottie Moon Christmas Tea was beautiful, well attended, and worth the time involved.  There were ladies from East Fork, New Zion, Bethel, Amite, and Kentwood.   It was nice to spend some time together as we shared about Lottie Moon.  Thanks to all who came and to all who helped make the tea come together.

A missions story to share with your children and grandchildren

Ladd Turner’s latest post on Dan Turner

UPDATE: Dan Turner is awake this morning! He tried to talk and communicate with a picture book this morning. All good stuff! He still tires very easily and rests often. Thank you all for your prayers and please continue! I’m so happy to see my big brother getting better. The UMMC staff is top notch in providing care and we have a big ole God that put all of the right people in the right places! Thank you, Lord!

The Turner family is experiencing the same virus many of us have had.  Pray they get better quickly and do not pass the virus on to Dan.

If you know of a family where several are sick, please share some soup, offer to pick up medicine, or do whatever is needed to help them through this time.

Prayers for former President of the United States of America…41st president…George H. W. Bush, who is now in ICU in a hospital in Houston…prayers for him, his family, and those medical personnel who are treating him!

Stella McDaniel Heth is still at North Oaks, but planning to come home later today.

Dan Turner is breathing without the vent and laughing.  His family is so thankful for his progress and your prayers.

Two Christmas Eve services that I am aware of:

  • 5:00 @ Pine Ridge United Methodist Church
  • 5:30 @ East Fork Baptist Church

Be sure to keep Christ in your Christmas!  Singing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus is especially sweet with little children.

Sunday

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.”

~Romans 15:13 NIV~

Pray for Robbie Lynn C. Kirby as she spends time in the hospital due to strep in her bloodstream.  She seems to go from one problem to two more.  Pray for strength and endurance for her and her family.

Many people are sick with the stomach virus or the flu.  Christmas is not a good time of the year to be sick, but it is always that way for some.  I think there will be more sick people at Christmas this year than usual.

Today’s schedule at Spring Creek Baptist Church

I want to remind our Spring Creek Baptist Church family that tomorrow we will have a different schedule. There will be one morning service after Sunday School. So come at ten and stay for worship at eleven.

Our sanctuary choir and children will be singing in our one morning worship service.

Then beginning at 4:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. we will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper. We will have a time of fellowship and then serve the Supper every fifteen minutes. Hope to see you there. This event will take place in our new building.

I hope to see you tomorrow. If you don’t have a church home come visit with us we would love to see you! God bless.

Saturday

“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.”

~Luke 2:14~

Dan Turner is doing well.  The chest tube removed fluid and the vent provides oxygen when he needs it.  Pray for the family as this is now two weeks since the accident.  Pray they will not grow weary and they will stay positive concerning Dan’s recovery.

Stella McDaniel Heth lives east of Arcola.  Yesterday, she fell and broke her wrist and her arm.  She had expensive surgery at North Oaks.  Pray for a complete recovery with a minimal amount of pain.

There was a very respectable size group that braved the elements yesterday and walked and prayed for 27 minutes.  Mainly, they were showing their concern for the 27 families of Newtown that lost a family member.  These families will need our prayers for some time.
