Pray for the Councils and the Hatchels today.  Moving days are long and stressful.  One move is long, but the other one is shorter.  Everything has to be packed, moved, and unpacked in either move.

Pray for Frank Smith’s family as he has two sick parents.  Frank and Sue will be flying to MS where Frank’s mother is receiving hospice care.  His dad is hospitalized in LA.  They need special prayers.

My former student, Cindy, who lives in the Albany-Holden area is having to leave her home again due to flooding.  This time the move is expected to be for weeks, not days.  Pray they can maintain some normalcy in their lives.

Pray for those not too far north of here who are dealing with icy conditions.

 90 Day Bible Reading

Leviticus 14:33 – Leviticus 26:26

A story that will touch your heart as it did mine.

http://www.news-leader.com/article/20130113/NEWS0101/301130027/reporter-s-notebook-organ-donation-Springfield-hospital-Austin-Elder

The father of two of my classmates (twins) passed away yesterday.   Many of you many have know him as the local extension agent or as a faithful member of FBC, Amite.  I knew him as the kind and gentle father of my friends who allowed his girls to have all their friends over each January for their birthday slumber party.  What fun we had!  In recent years, he has been the kind man we frequently saw at Mikes at lunch time on Sundays.  He is already missed in Amite.

Delos Hall Jones
(October 10, 1917 – January 13, 2013)

Delos Hall Jones, 95, longtime resident of Amite, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2013 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Delos was born on October 10, 1917 in Enon, LA to Alma Magee Jones and Ernest Jones and was raised in Bogalusa. Following graduation from LSU, he entered the US Navy and served as a pilot in WWII, achieving the rank of Lt. Commander. After completing a Master’s Degree at LSU, he was employed by the LSU Agricultural Extension Service in Tangipahoa Parish his entire career. He was known and loved by many and enjoyed nothing more than giving away the fruits and vegetables he grew in his large backyard garden. Delos was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Evelyn Fendlason Jones, sisters, Myra Higginbotham and Jessie Mae Bateman and brother, Woodrow Jones. He is survived by daughters, Arleen Fortson (Tom), Maureen Stricker (Peter) and son, Gilbert Jones (Frances), as well as grandchildren, Maureen Fortson Dean (Nick), Thomas Fortson, Jonathan Stricker, Jeffrey Stricker (Lori), Courtney Jones LaFever (Matt) and Stephen Jones (Courtney) and Great Grandson Knox Jones. He is also survived by brothers, James Jones from Fort Worth, TX and J. P. Jones (Thelma) from Lafayette, LA, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite on Thursday, January 17 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. Visitation will also be from 9:00am until 11:00am on Friday, January 18 at First Baptist Church in Amite immediately followed by the funeral service. Burial will be at Amite Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Amite. For an online guestbook, visit http://www.mckneelys.com.

Yes, more rain and cooler temperatures are in our forecast for today.  Thank you, God, for weather that keeps life from being boring and meets our needs even when we don’t know why we are getting more rain.

90 Day Bible Reading – Leviticus 26:27 – Numbers 8:14

I wasn’t at home yesterday, so I didn’t get my reading done yesterday (even thought I took my Bible with me).  I will be on the same passage today that I listed yesterday.  If you started later than I did, it will give you a chance to catch up with me.  The program has two extra days, so I claim yesterday as one.
