Devotional, Scripture, & a Song

Baptist Press –   BPNews.net

I can relate to some, not all, portions of the articles about missionary parents/grandparents.  What a great honor for the family to have members serving internationally!  It’s not always easy, but oh, the joy of the reunion we had last week!

We can all serve in out own way.  I feel called to do the things I do.  I hope you have found your calling too!

Anna Lee

Fourth of July

I’m so proud to be an American,

even if we are not perfect people or a perfect country!

May we all learn to turn to God in everything!

You, my brothers, were called to be free.

But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;

rather, serve one another in love.

The entire law is summed up in a single command:

“Love your neighbor as yourself.

~Galatians 5:13-14~

Jadon’s Journey

Jadon ended his therapy this week doing very well.  He can do so much more than expected.  Thank you, Jesus, for allowing us to be a witness to this little miracle.  “Righty” is doing better and better with therapy.  Those who work with Jadon have been so helpful!

Frank Lea

Mr. Frank is in North Oaks again.  Please pray for him and for his family.

Steve Hatchel (Texas)

Ana, Mr. Steve’s daughter-in-law, sent another update.  Mr. Steve continues to work hard to receive the treatment prescribed for him.  He has no sense of taste and has lost his ability to taste food, thus, losing more weight.  His voice is also weak.  Pray for him as he approaches new testing and an evaluation of his current situation.

Operation Christmas Child

  • “My name is Mim and I live in Bangladesh. I am so happy today because I received so many toys and special things in a gift. My parents could not afford to give me such things. I am excited to have all of these new toys. Thank you friends who sent us these wonderful gifts!” – Mim, shoebox recipient
  • “My name is Samia and I am from Bangladesh. Our economic condition is very poor, so my parents cannot afford to buy toys for me. When I heard that I would get a gift box, I was so excited! I could not sleep at night because the excitement to receive the gift box kept me up. Finally my dreams came true and I got my gift. It was a great day for me, and I was so happy! I have lots of toys now that I couldn’t have before. Thank you to all of my foreign friends who sent me the toys and other amazing things!” – Samia, shoebox recipient
  • “Esther received her shoebox gift 16 years ago when she was 10, but she still kept the doll. These gifts continue to have long lasting effects on the children who receive them.” – Mary R.
  • “While our world is shaking and crumbling, we need to realize that one thing will never change, and that is God. He is the same today as he was ten million years ago, and will be the same ten million years from today.” – Billy Graham
Baptist Press
Devotional, Scripture, and a Song

My daughter’s family is not often in patriotic services at church because of where they live.  The grandchildren asked if we did the pledge, saw videos about our country, recognized those who served in the military, and sang patriotic much every week.  They were impressed!

I’m thankful to be an American and a Christian.  Both of those things are the way they are partly because of the place of my birth and the family I was born into.  I have been so blessed!  I wish everyone could feel that way.

Thank-you for your faithfulness in reading and praying.  I hope we do a better job of praying and helping to meet needs when we see some written names.

Of course, the names of all the people are not here.  Sometimes, I am unaware of names I should include or do not have an update.  Some people have asked not to be listed.  If you know of people I do not include, please pray.

I think we all know the power of our prayers.
