Tuesday

“All the nations You have made

will come and bow down before You, Lord,

and will honor Your name. “

~Psalm 86:9~

Mrs. Nadine Council sent an update on her son, Chris Council, and new information about Dr. Earl Council.

  • Chris – had last radiation treatment last Monday; no new signs of lymphoma; taking antibiotics for inflamation of stomach; blessed that problem was found at this stage, not later; cancer in eye is treatable
  • Doc – pain in legs and lower back; in rehab; trying shots with surgery a last resort

Please keep the Council family in your prayers.

Pray for Rufus Williams as he has a heart cath. at Lacombe at 7:00 this morning.  Pray for Margie as she waits during the procedure.

Jadon Pailet is now seizure free for a year and a half.  Continue to thank God for the progress Jadon has made since surgery.  He is looking forward to school starting in a few weeks.

Austin Rose update written by him mother, Denise:

I know it has been a while since I posted but “no news is good news”. Austin has been having very good days. We are almost finished with this 3rd round of chemo. And “if the good LORD is willing and the creek don’t rise” WE WILL BE GOING HOME THIS WEEK!!! So Ready!

Patricia Nicolosi Manzella (Pat) formerly from Hammond was involved in a serious car accident on July 15th and is in critical but stable condition at University Hospital in Jackson Mississippi. Pat currently lives in Kentwood and works at Sunflower. She needs your help. We are organizing a blood drive in her name at the blood center in Hammond. Please donate blood and or platelets on her behalf. The family appreciates everyone and thanks you in advance.  Mrs. Pat is in need of blood donations. If you can help, please contact the local Blood Center in Hammond.   (Mrs. Manzella lives on Bethel Road.)

Pray for the ladies who will be working to organize material in the library at the associational missions office the next couple of days.  We hope to make it more usable for everyone and a lot easier for the secretary and others to access materials.

While shopping this week, keep your eyes open for 100% cotton or flannel fabric that can be used for children’s hospital gowns.  Patters to look for are sports related, cartoons, holidays, and other things you think children will like.  There are two drop boxes at FBC, Kentwood.  Susan, the wonderful lady who sews the gowns, will be in Kentwood that day to supervise a “cutting party”, so bring the fabric in by Sunday.

Girls, youth, and ladies will be donating purses for us to fill and give away through the Re-Store shop in Amite.  We will need lots of things to go in the purses to make them special – pens, small notebooks, files, tissues, reading material, etc.  We hope to have enough to make each purse like a gift box.  Christian literature would be wonderful.  Tracts will also be included.

Boys and girls from several area churches are at R.A. and G.A. camp.  Pray for them and their leaders that they may all grow in the Lord.

An update from Lara’s mom:
The doctors seem to think they found a lesion on Lara’s left tibia. We are waiting to see if they will do a biopsy on Tuesday. As of now, they are stopping treatment until we see a specialist at MD Anderson. Trying to be optimistic. If anybody can handle this, my baby can!

Pray for Ashlyn DeBlanc as she has a check-up on her knee today.

Ashlyn DeBlanc will be having surgery on a knee Wednesday in Jackson.  Please pray for Ashlyn and her family as they anticipate this procedure.

Austin Rose was able to walk outside his hospital and experience sunlight firsthand for the first time in three weeks.  I know the family is thankful for the “small steps” of progress they have seen.

From Robert Callihan

Robbie was doing little better but nurses saw her at home today and urged her to go to emergency room. They think she may have blood clot in her leg. I have been spending weekends with her and will continue as long as she needs me.  Keep praying for her and pass this along to anyone u feel like.

Two reminders:

  1. Now is a good time to purchase flannel or 100% cotton fabric in patterns appropriate for children – sports, animals, teams, cartoon character, Disney characters, etc.  You can check out Susan’s facebook page – “Lara’s Gowns for Smiles”.  We will be cutting the fabric two weeks from today.  People from area churches are welcome to add fabric to our baskets at FBC, Kentwood.   Susan learned last week that socks and underwear are also needed sometimes when children, both boys and girls, have an appointment and are immediately sent to the hospital.   It would be helpful if you bring straight pins and scissors.
  • Small – 1 yd.

  • Medium – 1 1/2 – 2-1/2 yds.

  • Large – 2 1/2 – 3 yds.

2. We will be working on “Purses of Purpose” the same day.  We need purses for children, teens, and adults and items to go in the purses.  Each purse will also include a small pamphlet with a Christian message.

  • new pens
  • small notepads
  • hand sanitizer
  • tissues
  • small books
  • small toys for a girl
  • inexpensive jewelry
  • etc.

Please sign the list at the church or let me know if you are coming.
