Norman Oscar Stuart

A resident of Kentwood, died at 9:40 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his home. He was born February 19, 1947 in Franklinton and was 67 years of age. Norman grew up on Porter’s Curve, northwest of Mt. Hermon. He graduated from Mt. Hermon High School where he excelled in baseball, basketball and boxing. He was a graduate of Spencer Business College. He played semi pro baseball and enjoyed softball, fishing and hunting as a young adult. He worked closely with the LSU School of Archaeology in the collections and preservation of Southwest Regional Indian Artifacts. He was a pitcher and shortstop for the 1958-1959 team that represented Louisiana at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. He was a member of the Spring Creek Mason Lodge #184, F&AM. He was also a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Kentwood. He worked for 45 years in the financial service industry as managing partner at the Kentwood Financial Service for 28 years. He loved his wife, his children, and his community. Norman enjoyed classic westerns and slap stick comedies and the music of Elton John and Billy Joel. He is survived by wife, Nell Williamson Stuart, Kentwood; 1 daughter, Elizabeth Stuart Brick, Houston, TX; 1 son, Paul R. “Paul Rae” Stuart, Los Angeles, CA where he works as an actor; 1 brother, Kenny R. Stuart, Chesapeake, VA. Preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Rae Stuart; his mother, Lorraine Porter Holmes and brother, Buddie Holmes.
