Pray for Tommy as he has heart surgery today at St. Tammany.  Pray for Becky and others waiting during the procedure.  Also, pray for a full and easy recovery (if that is ever possible with heart surgery).

Inez Bridges Travis Tate
(January 14, 1929 – March 8, 2014)

A resident of Montpelier, she died at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 85 years. She was born January 14, 1929 in St. Helena Parish in a log cabin and was the 11th of 14 children. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and Southeastern Louisiana University and worked for the Office of Family Support for 25 years. She was a member of Montpelier Baptist Church where she served as a G.A. Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Church Clerk. She was a very active member and former officer for over thirty years for the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a founding member of the St. Helena Historical Society and was the “Unofficial” St. Helena Historian. She was the author of several books about St. Helena Parish and the Town of Montpelier including St. Helena Vets Remembered World War II and St. Helena Parish War Veterans. She is survived by 3 sons, Dennis Travis and wife, Linda, Cary Travis and wife, Gayle, and Brian Travis and wife, Molly; 5 grandchildren, Randy Travis, DeLynn Spinks, Brett Travis, Brandon Travis and Chanda Van Slyke; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Bonnie McMillan, Wilma Chand and Mattie Lambert. Preceded in death by husbands, Ray Travis and Edward Tate; parents, William Wilson Bridges and Cassie Bridges; siblings, J. S. Bridges, Will T. Bridges, C. J. Bridges, Mamie Allen, Elaine Pittman, Minnie Pittman, Rucee Bridges, Jack Bridges, Murphy Bridges and Charles Bridges. The family would like to give special thanks to Sandy Culbreath. Visitation at Montpelier Baptist Church, Montpelier, from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014. Services conducted by Rev. Rusty Durand. Interment Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier. Pallbearers will be Randy Travis, Brett Travis, Brandon Travis, Kelly Spinks, Justin Jenkins and Jeremy Van Slyke. Rilla “Mae” Bardwell
(November 26, 1933 – March 9, 2014)

A resident of Kentwood, she died at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home. She was born November 26, 1933 in Tylertown, MS and was 80 years of age. She is survived by her 4 children, Monel Dunaway, Bernie Gill and wife, Ann, Beth Billiot and husband, Beryl and Teddy Gill and wife, Darlene; 8 grandchildren, Joey Dunaway, Donna LeBrun and husband, Carl, Jina Crouse and husband, Brett, Olive Gill, Brooke and Bolton Billiot, Misty and Lewis Bell; 13 great-grandchildren and many others that she considered hers. Preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Elizabeth Martin; husbands, Dudley Gill, Jake Vicknair and James Bardwell; and one infant child.
