Larry Allen Carruth
(May 17, 1942 – November 23, 2013)
A lifelong resident of Greensburg, died at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1942 in Clinton and was 71 years of age. He was the owner of Larry Carruth Appliances which later became Western Auto Associate Store and retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He was a member of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department where he was a Past Chief and proudly achieved Firefighter 1 status. He was a former member of the Greensburg Cemetery Board and Council on Aging and was currently serving as the Greensburg Town Alderman. Mr. Larry served as Honorary Chaplain for the House of Representatives and was an active member of Greensburg United Methodist Church where he also served as a song leader. He is survived by his wife, Oneida Bridges Carruth, Greensburg; two daughters, Becky Carruth Lindsey and husband Tommy, and Beth Carruth Russell, all of Amite; step-son, Wylie Smith and wife, Eudora, Round Rock, TX; grandchildren, Daniel Vining and wife, Elizabeth, Amite, Scott Lindsey, Amite, Karibeth Lindsey, Amite, Laurie Lindsey Miller and husband, Toby, Kentwood, Madison Rhea Coxen, Amite, Shelbi Lynn Russell, Amite, and Sarah Smith, Round Rock, TX; great-grandchildren, Lexi and Beau Vining and Paisley and Parker Miller. Preceded in death by his first wife, Judith “Judy” Wilkes Carruth; parents, Nicholas Elton Carruth and Eula Joy Allen Carruth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greensburg United Methodist Church or Greensburg Cemetery Association. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday and at Greensburg United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until Religious Services at 2p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
