Bonnie Griffith Strickland 

(August 23, 1921 – November 6, 2013)

A resident of Kentwood, she died at 10:02 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite at 92 years of age. She is survived by her sister, Helen Courtney, Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Sidney Strickland; parents, Elmer and Bessie Griffith; 2 sisters, Brennice Hawkins and Wanzie Terry; and a brother, Elmer “Grif” Griffith. She was a Past Worthy Matron, Order of the Easter Star, Spring Creek, and a member of First Baptist Church in Kentwood. She loved her dogs and crocheting. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013. Services conducted by Rev. Joey Miller.  Annie Iverstine Poillion
(February 19, 1927 – November 6, 2013)  

A resident of Amite, she died on Thursday, November 6, 2013 at Louisiana Medical Center and Heart Hospital in Lacombe. She was born February 19, 1927 in Hammond and was 86 years of age. Survived by husband of 66 years, William “Bill” Poillion, Sr.; 6 children, Bill Poillion, Jr. and wife, Mary, Regina Poillion Bracy and husband, Randall, Charles Poillion and wife, Mary, Dennis Poillion and wife, Linda, Carol Poillion Fucci and husband, Eddie, and John Poillion and wife, Celine; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bessie Magro, Mary Stang and husband, Jack, and Linda King and husband, Mike; and three brothers, Luke Iverstine, Jr. and wife, Pat, Dave Iverstine and wife, Sue, and Emile Iverstine. Preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Francis Iverstine; and three sisters, Josephine Puma, Laura Bertone Baptist, and Tina Profita. Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial Services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Interment Statham Cemetery, Amite.
