Tyrone Lee Harrell

Tyrone Lee Harrell, 74, a lifelong resident of Gillsburg, MS passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Visitation is Tuesday, September 17, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, LA. Visitation will continue Wednesday, September 18, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Gillsburg, MS, from 9:00 a.m. until religious service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Stewart Cemetery, Liberty, MS. Tyrone was born at home in Gillsburg on June 5, 1939 to Alex and Maggie Caston Harrell. He was retired from Williams Pipeline after 36 years of dedicated service. Tyrone honorably served in the National Guard for nine years. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He greatly enjoyed the annual family dove hunt and supper that has been a family tradition for more than fifty years. Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jimmy Dale and Samuel Noland; and two sisters, Hilda Harrell Michelli and Doris Varnado. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving, devoted wife, Glenda Womack Harrell of Gillsburg; his three children and their spouses, Stacy Harrell-Mathers and Terrence of Mandeville, LA, Allyson Harrell-Gibson and Jeff of New Orleans, LA, and Caston Harrell and Lori of McComb; his brother and best friend, Charles Harrell of Gillsburg, MS; and four sisters, Ida Spinks of Baton Rouge, LA, Bettye Wilson and husband, Ray of Shreveport, LA; Jerrie Nell Chenevert and husband, Ronnie of Alexandria, LA, and Kay Alford and husband, Sam of Kentwood, LA. He had seven grandchildren whom he adored, Jordan, Evan, and Elliot Mathers, Aidan and Owen Gibson, and Nolan and Camille Harrell. He also loved and cherished Glenda’s children, Michelle Womack of Belton, TX, Rhonda Lee and husband, Todd of Kentwood, LA, and Scott Womack and wife, Kristi of Kentwood, LA; grandchildren; Kirstie Antoon and husband John, Colton Lee and fiance Kelli Hayden, Austin Lee, and Mallory, Derrek and Slade Womack; great-grandchildren, Adasyn and Bristol Antoon; as well as his many wonderful nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Evan Mathers, Nolan Harrell, Austin Lee, Darren Fairburn, Mickey Harrell, and Wayne Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Jordan Mathers and the men of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to all of the family and friends who offered their prayers, love and support. Heartfelt thanks go out to the congregation of Mt.
