September 8th was my grandmother’s birthday. She was know to most people as Jennie Lee Wilkinson Draughon. I was named for her (Lee) and her mother (Anna Elizabeth). In our family, she was know as “Ganky”, because her oldest grandchild (yours truly) learned to say that before she could say Grandmaw or some other such name. When I was growing up and she visited, we talked long after we got in my bed. One night, I learned her favorite hymn was “Near to the Heart of God”. Needless to say, that became one of my favorite hymns too.
