Annie “Marion” Dreher
(August 20, 1919 – August 6, 2013)

A resident of Amite, she died at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at St. Helena Parish Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born August 20, 1919 in Amite and was 93 years of age. She graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College with a degree in Education and later retired from the Tangipahoa Parish School System with 30 years of service as a First Grade Teacher. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Amite. She is survived by her sister, Jewel D. Matheny, Texas; nieces, Noma D. Newell, Hillsdale, Jerry D. Laciura (Anthony), Independence, Ginger D. Battalora, Amite, Janet B. Giardina (Pete) Amite, Marion M. McNeal, Texas; nephews, John K. Dreher, Jr. (Susan), Sweetwater, Robert E. Bel (Glenda), Amite, John Alvin Bel, Amite, Nolan Bel, Hammond, Ronnie Matheny (Debbie), Texas, Donald Matheny (Amy), East Africa, Robert Matheny (Mel), Biloxi and Murphy Ray Matheny (Twila) Biloxi; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Preceded in death by, parents, John B. And Noma Kemp Dreher; a brother who passed away 12 days ago, John K. “Red” Dreher and his wife, Helen P. Dreher; and a sister, Evon D. Bel and her husband, Bobby Bel. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Thursday. Religious Services at First Baptist Church, Amite, at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, August 8, 2013. Services conducted by Rev. Mike Foster. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. Pallbearers will be Robert Bel, Cody Bel, Johnny Dreher, Anthony Laciura, Robert Matheny, Marc Chambers, Rich Raborn and Roy Kyzar.
