Lara’s Gowns for Smiles Cutting Party & Purses for Purpose – Monday at FBC, Kentwood we will be cutting fabric and stuffing purses.  Join us at 10:00 A.M.  There will be something for everyone.  If you can, please being some kid-appropriate 100% cotton or flannel fabric, new underwear of socks, and/or items for purses such as small notepads, nail files, small Christian books, Christian magazines, etc.

Pray for “Connected”, the regional WMU meeting, which will be help at FBC, Kentwood on Saturday, August 17.  If you are willing to help, please contact me.  If you have white or solid pastel flat sheets we can use, please bring them to me.  Pin you name on a corner of the sheet so I will be able to return them to the proper owners after our big day.  Thanks!

John “Red” Kemp Dreher, Sr.

(September 12, 1927 – July 25, 2013)

A resident of Amite, died at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 12, 1927 in Amite and was 85 years of age. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. “Pop” was a lifelong member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Amite and was a Captain with the Amite Fire Department, where he served for 35 years. He was also the 1986 Amite Oyster Festival King and a member of the Jaycees. Survived by 3 daughters, Noma D. Newell, Hillsdale, Jerry D. Laciura (Anthony), Independence and Ginger D. Battalora, Amite; 1 son, John Kemp Dreher, Jr. (Susan), Loranger; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Dupepe’ (Greg), Jennie N. Perkins, Bonnie N. Jordan (Brooks), Kindra D. Thompson (Jack), Jacob Dreher (Allison), Kemp Dreher (Akane), Michael Laciura (Jessica), Lisa L. Chambers (Brett), Ashley L. Kyzar (Roy), Farrah L. Raborn (Rich) and Lauren H. Battalora; 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 8 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandson; 2 sisters, Jewel D. Matheny, Texas and Marion Dreher, Amite. Preceded in death by wife, Helen P. Dreher; parents, John B. and Noma Kemp Dreher; grandson, Joshua Cole Battalora; sister, Evon D. Bel and son-in-law, Herman Newell. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013. Religious services will be at First Baptist Church, Amite, at 11 a.m. on Monday. Services conducted by Rev. Darryl Miller, Rev. Mike Foster and Brett Chambers. Interment will follow in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. Pallbearers will be Jack Thompson, Jimmy Bobo, Robert Bel, John Elliott, Marc Chambers, Christopher Chambers, Brooks Jordan and Greg Dupepe’. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kemp Dreher, Jacob Dreher, Michael Laciura, Garrett Keopp, Todd Bobo, Zach Albritton, Buster Thompson and the members of the Amite Fire Department. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 100 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
