Ruby Harris Young, 92 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at North Oaks Medical Center. She was born November 22, 1920, in Dubach, Louisiana.
Mrs. Young was a faithful member of Woodland Park Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class for 54 years. She was retired from the Tangipahoa Parish School System and was a member of the Tangipahoa Parish Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are her daughters, Juanice Young Skinner and husband Johnny, and Cheryl Young Brown, both of Hammond; son, Bruce Young and wife Jan of Kansas City, Kansas; grandsons, Matthew, Justin and Jeremy Skinner; granddaughter, Angela Young Smith; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Hunter Smith and Nathaniel Matthew Skinner; 3 nieces; 6 nephews; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Dorothy Young.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee Young; parents, Alf and Dewey Autrey Harris; brother, Dr. Edward L. Harris; and a nephew.
Friends will be received on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 1:00 pm until funeral services begin at 3:00 pm at Woodland Park Baptist Church in Hammond.
Interment will follow in Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.
